OK, where are the fix-it people?
OK, where are the fix-it people?
I'm having trouble keeping the hose on the elbow of the Mirage Liberty hybrid mask. Three times so far the hose has popped off. Any suggestions on how to rig it so it will stay put???

You might try a hose clamp. Get the stainless-steel, worm-drive kind, and make sure it's the right size. If it's too large, it won't apply pressure evenly all the way around the hose fitting, and so it won't work as well.

Or you could try a plastic hose clamp - your local hardware store should have these on hand. I'm not quite sure what size you would need...

Duct tape -- the solution to everything!
Re: OK, where are the fix-it people?
Those might work too. I recommended the metal ones because it's easier to get just the right pressure from a worm drive.natethegreat wrote:Or you could try a plastic hose clamp - your local hardware store should have these on hand. I'm not quite sure what size you would need...

Something you could do with either type is to put one on the hose and one on the elbow and use them as attachment points for some sort of tether... maybe a thin rubber o-ring. But I'd try using the clamp as a clamp first.

Re: OK, where are the fix-it people?
Would the "Quick connect" things from cpap.com work? I use those at every connection - where my main hose connects to the mask and where the main hose connects to the humidifier on my PR System One.
There are also short lengths of hoses that would give you a little more distance between the mask and the main hose. This helped me with some nasal masks I used in the past. The hose seemed to pop off with short connection of the mask.

Re: OK, where are the fix-it people?
This may be off the wall since we don't have exactly the same mask but my Quattro Mirage came with an adapter that slips into the hose and provides a snug fit. If I don't use it the hose will not fit securely to the mask.

Is the hose old? Maybe it's stretched. Be sure the mating surfaces are clean. Maybe you can shim the connection somehow.

Re: OK, where are the fix-it people?
I think if the hose collar is stretched/worn enough that it pops off then a new hose is in order. I can see duct tape (or rubber cement in a pinch) as a temporary fix.
But a METAL HOSE CLAMP??? Seriously??
Hey, I wonder if there's a market for cast iron replacement mask shells??

I had the same problem. I used a heavy rubber band, and wrapped it a bunch of times. It works great.
