Well well well...the PR APAP worked

Post by EricinNC » Wed Mar 30, 2011 8:04 am

Woke up this morning feeling like a human being for the first time in since mid December. What was really strange is how when I was laying in bed last night with the PR blowing, I could feel my chest wall muscles hurting in a good way, like they are toning up or being supported is the only way I know how to describe it. Then I began to feel sleepy and relaxed and muscles started to twitch. Then I was gone...lights out.

I dont get that with the Resmed S9 APAP.

I did get that same feeling though with my old and broken Resmed S8 APAP. The PR APAP is a powerhouse and gets the job done. I will be using it from now on. I will now be looking to sell my Resmed S9 APAP and except for masks, Im never buying another Resmed product for as long as I live. Im going to buy a PR APAP backup machine soon just like I have that WORKS.

Life is really strange, I gotta tell you that. When you go thru four Resmed APAPs in less than a year and not one works well...and then you switch to a PR APAP and it works like the old school machine works, I gotta tell you something smells. I dont know if its the ramp up speed or what it is, all I know is the PR works like my old machine, the newer Resmed's dont work worth a darn. Why I dont really know. I was actually excited to get the new Resmeds!

The bad thing is I lost three over three months of my life. Lost my job because of all this, had a few relationships fall apart because when my OSA flares up I am not able to be around people and function normally. There was also something that happened that caused me economic distress that I cant go into on here, because of the failure of this Resmed gear to get the job done. I also had to cancel a job interview in Charlotte because of what happened to me the last three months. It also caused my family a lot of stress because I had to move in back with my family because I suddenly became unemployed not long after machine failure. And they had to watch me like this, which I dont appreciate, RESMED!

All I can say is I now refer to current model Resmed APAPs as APAP "Lite" models.

However, Im feeling much better, much less angry, much less stressed, much less "crazy" after just one night on PR gear. In fact, feel pretty good. It will get better as the week goes by and I throw in some exercise in a day or two.

I can promise you will see less and less of me as I feel better, as this is the last place I want to hang out once Im feeling normal again.

Its amazing what being able to breathe normally in your sleep does for you. Turns you into a different person. I can go from being a total irritable asshole to being a nice guy overnight depending on whether or not I use proper sleep apnea gear! I can already feel myself wanting to think less about my gear and how it does not work and starting to refocus on the life I had rebuilt until recently.

All I can say is "thanks for nothing Resmed!" And thank you, Phillips Respironics...please dont water down your gear in the future.

Eric, sorry the ResMeds didn't work for you, but glad you found a PR that did.

No, I am not doing that. I am experienced enough with OSA and CPAP to simply "go by feel." I can crank up my S9 to a minimum pressure of 11 and leave it wide open and I dont get that "pressure" feeling in my lungs and chest that knocks me out...like my chest wall muscles hurt a little and not long afterwards, I will start twitching (nerve twitches) and fall asleep.

With my old S8 (another powerhouse blower) and this PR APAP, I get that feeling. It simply is more powerful than the S9s. All you have to do is hook them up to a water manometer and you can see one blows the water up the plastic straw way way faster than the other. Speed is probably some of it, the PR is way faster. The PR I can tell keeps my airway open better.

EricinNC,

I'm glad you finally simply decided to sleep with the PR System One.

I'm glad you slept better with the System One than the S9.

Please keep sleeping with the System One and don't look back at the S9.

Hope you start much better real soon.

Dont worry, thats my plan. Last night when I put the PR on and hit start, within about five or ten minutes I could feel my chest wall muscles getting that kind of toning up, mild sore feeling I used to get when I had not used CPAP for a long time. I dont know why the S9 does not work my chest wall muscles out like that. I also did not nap today for the first time in forever. I also feel way calmer and like my normal self.

Where did my original post go to? There was nothing in it that was profane or anything.

Can you believe CPAP.com or whomever moderates this place deleted the original post that started this string of posts? It contained no profanity or anything worded terrible. It was actually a positive post.

I dont think I want to buy anything else from cpap.com and Ive bought a lot of stuff from them in the past. I think I will take my business elsewhere in the future. I was planning on buying a second PR APAP, looks like somebody else will be getting my business.

I find it completely implausible that cpap.com had ANYTHING to do with the removal of that post.

EricinNC wrote:May I ask why it was deleted? It was a positive post.
Sure, you can ask. I just don't happen to know the answer unless you are wanting me to speculate. I agree with you, it was a positive post. There really is not a legitimate reason, that I could see, for removing it.

Who removed it? The only people here who have the power to remove would be me or the moderators. This forum is owned by cpap.com. WTF?

It is a self-moderated forum. There is no record that we can see saying who removed it. I have no idea who removed it. Maybe they will speak up and explain why they removed it, unless their reason was less than admirable. In that case, I would not expect an answer to your question.

A self moderated forum? You gotta be kidding, well hell if thats the case I will start deleting half the posts on here I see because this forum is filled with bs. I will take this forum over and straighten it out. I did that once with another forum a long time ago.
