Anybody here get super bloodshot eyes if they dont use CPAP?

Post by EricinNC » Mon Mar 28, 2011 8:40 pm

Because when I dont use my gear for more than maybe two days, my eyes get super super bloodshot. The last time I had it was earlier this winter right after my original machine broke. It mostly went away when I got my current S9, but the dark circles are still there. I also had it come back briefly when I was experimenting with a Fisher & Pykel humidifier two years ago with my original machine, saw my Internal med doctor when my eyes were bloodshot like that and he commented about it.

Hypertension? There is a definite link between the two and is a serious condition.

Well I was like that for years before CPAP. For years. When I went on CPAP, it went away. When my CPAP broke, it came back for a while. And yes, my doctors did mention my blood pressure was mildly high again for the first time in years. I also feel agitated when I get like that, like my chest is going to explode or something. Very painful. Only thing that ever treated it was CPAP.

Your descriptions all point to the fact that you need to be seen by a physician EricinNC. This is bigger than just osa and a new machine not giving you the therapy you require.

I see physicians, all the time. You sound as if you dont believe me that not using CPAP leads me to having severely bloodshot eyes. They already know about it.

Are you on meds for hypertension? Your BP should be monitored very closely. What about an Opthomologist? It seems that you need a complete all-inclusive diagnostic workup other than for OSA.

Yes, maximum dose of Zestril, ACE Inhibitor. I dont have the bloodshot eyes right now, but it comes back if my CPAP breaks down or I dont use the gear or get a severe leak.
