Weekly numbers

Post by epark300 » Mon Mar 28, 2011 2:40 pm

Hello. I don't have S8 software but took weekly readings for the week.

Leak .22 L/s
AHI 3.9
AI 0.1
HI 3.8

I seem to be sleeping through the night and not taking the mask off.

Are these numbers in range for good therapy. If not what is and what steps
can I take to get there.

Thank you all for your input. This site is full of experience and knowledge. Big help to me.

Very decent numbers. The leak rate could be improved a bit but you are still within the range that the machine should be able to handle. Mask leak is pretty much an on going battle anyway. Any signs of mouth breathing like dry mouth or sore throat?

How have you been feeling?

Have been feeling good. I believe only one time this past week I woke up droggy with cotton mouth so I knew that I opened my mouth a lot during the night.

As far as fine tuning the mask I am not sure what else to do. Using nasal pillows with chin strap doesn't leave much room to tweek at all. Pressure is at 9 with humidifier set in the middle.

Not into the tape thing. Tried it once and won't go back there. lol

This leak number is where the software reports would come in handy. We don't know how much of the night the leak (weekly report) really might impact the overall therapy. I would look more into each night's leak instead of weekly.
A really good night (leak wise) might get a bit skewered by a really bad night and weekly leak number might reflect it. If we were looking at the actual graphs they might give a better indication if the leak was overall elevated a bit or maybe isolated to just some larger leak times but also had some very good leak lines also. Since you don't have the software the best thing is to watch individual night data and see where it is trending.

ResMed 8 says that leaks above 0.4 L/sec may impact data and therapy. You are half way there . I would look more at the individual night's numbers if it was me. See what those are showing.

Will try to snug up the chin strap a little. Not much else to do.
Will track nightly on the leaks and see what it looks like.

I do wish I had the software. I am going in tomorrow so going
to ask if they have anything there on know where I could get it.

The software is easily obtained. Just ask. The problem is the card reader for transferring the data from the card to the software. Since the S8 machine has been discontinued, the card readers are scarce.
I have seen some on Ebay and that is it. ResMed card reader for S8 machine is what you need. Cpap.com used to have them but not now. They show it for reference only.

Those are excellent results.
I wouldn't worry about that leak report. Resmed's screen reports maximun leak -- no matter how long you spend in it.

Furthemore, this is a fixed pressure machine, so there's even less reason for worry.

If you want the software, Resmed's is easily downloadable, and it works for your machine too. You can find the link in Uncle_Bob's profile.

Just so you know your options. This is the card reader that is needed if you want to use the software.

If you are feeling decent and that leak bounces around a bit but stays around the .20 L/sec mark and less, I wouldn't worry about it. That would equal a 12 L/min in my machines terminology. and that really isn't all huge. The machine can handle it.
