Battery Pack for Remstar Series M

Post by chesterdawg » Sat Mar 26, 2011 10:49 am

I have the Repironics Remstar M series model 1022334 and want to use it camping.
I found this:
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/respir ... e-kit.html
and want to make sure it is the correct unit.

Also if I want a 2nd battery do I get this:
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/respir ... -pack.html
If so, OUCH it costs a lot of $$$ to go do nothing with nothing!

Any and all tips/info appreciated.
My kids are in scouts and my wife & I used to camp before we had kids (and before I knew I had sleep apnea).
We've been camping a few times with the scouts but not using my cpap is bad for the entire pack.

Thanks,

Steve

Steve
I use amodified sine wave inverter and a 12 volt deep cycle marine battery, cost me $170 in Canada so should be much cheaper in the states. I can get up to 4, 8 or 9 hour nights on it.
Happy camping
Nan
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

Hi, Steve.

I used to use the M Series APAP (in CPAP mode) and purchased a battery for use during storms/power outages. When I was using my battery at a pressure of 12 on that machine, I got over 27 hours of use from a full charge. Not bad for a very portable battery.

I started a thread about battery usage times back then, which you may find interesting: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=45410

Hope it's helpful.
Veni, vidi, Velcro. I came, I saw, I stuck around.

This machine is 5yrs old, if I spent all that $$ could it be used on another system?
also I'd like more info on using other batteries and what exactly to get.

Thanks,

Steve

Get any 12v "jumpstart" battery with at least 15AH capacity. Also, having a "cigarette lighter" outlet on it makes connecting it easier.

I have a "Dynamite Autopower 300A". It's lightweight, compact and has a cig lighter. I think I paid $50-60 three yrs ago or so. I got it to power my telescope and as a backup source for CPAP (haven't needed it yet, but I DID run the machine on it for a few minutes to test.) As it turns out, the telescope and CPAP use the same plug. You may have to make/buy one. I don't normally use my humidifier, even on AC.

As long as any new machine you get uses 12VDC, you should be fine.

I have that Respironics Battery pack and the 12 volt cable that you found on cpap.com. Bought it about 5 years ago now. I have used it 3 or 4 nights. It runs my machine all night (7+ hours) at a 90% pressure of 12 cm without the humidifier. It says it can run the machine for 3 nights at that pressure but I have never needed it for 3 nights in a row and have not tested it for 3 nights.

I used it with my M Series Auto. I now have a PR System One Auto and a Devilbiss Intellipap AutoAdjust and it will work with both those machines.

I don't know a lot about batteries but got this one and am happy with it.

Thanks everybody.
I called cpap.com and think I'm going to order the Resperonics battery pack. They say it should be good for 21hrs w/pressure set at 12 so hopefully I'll get at least 3 nights.

I'll keep checking back though so keep the info coming and thanks again,

Steve

Do not buy the one you linked to. For some reason they sell one with the cable for less $$$$
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/respir ... e-kit.html

I have one of these and have used it for camping and will use it for power outages. The price on the package is $294.00
I got the kit through my DME for $200.00 not sure if anyone else would sell it that cheap.

This is a bigger battery and I was told with moderate pressures my BiPap without humidifier should run close to 28 hours.
