Full face mask
Full face mask
I wore a full face mask last night for the first time and my AHI was 9, is that bad?
Thanks for you input.

Re: Full face mask
It isn't good. Generally accepted medical standard AHI standard is less than 5, so you are nearly twice that with last night's data.Guest wrote:I wore a full face mask last night for the first time and my AHI was 9, is that bad?

Re: Full face mask
was that the 1st time you wore ANY mask, or the first time for a FF mask? what was your AHI before last night? Do you have any idea how much it was leaking?
And if it was 9 last night, how does that compare to your diagnostic sleep study AHI? if you are coming down from 20, 9 is good!! but as Pugsy says, the generally accepted desirable score is 5 or lower.

Re: Full face mask
I started with a Resmed Quatro full face mask. In the third month I started dropping below 2.5 and then down to below 1.0. Four days ago I started trying
a Resmed Quatro FX full face mask. My DME gave me 30 days to accept it. The first 3 days my AHI's were at 3.0. Last night it dropped to 0.6.
When you start with a new mask it takes a little time to get used to it. Love the new mask.

Thank you, I have the Quatro FX, any suggestions in keeping leaks down? Thank you for you encouragement

Re: Full face mask
I have the large mask and the standard headgear. For some reason it fits perfect. Because of the size of my face it only has one proper position. When I remove it in the morning i loosen the the 2 bottoms straps at the clips. The key is putting it on the top at the bridge and lowering the bottom to between my lip and chin. Then the lower straps are adjusted. I have been using it for 4 days and its working fine.
Take a look at these video' s http://www.resmed.com/us/products/quatt ... s&sec=true. It has everything in depth about this mask
in a video format.
Hope that it helps.

Re: Full face mask
I've been using the quattro FX for 4 days too and I find it so much more comfortable than the mirage or ultra mirage. I too find that I must unhook both bottom clips to remove and put on the mask, whereas with the others I just unhooked one. With both bottom clips unhooked the mask comes over your head and down onto your nose as it's supposed to. My leaks and my AHI are getting better...not all under control yet. I would suggest a padacheek liner to increase the comfort. I understand that liners exist for the quattro FX although they are not on the website yet.

Re: Full face mask
I recently got a Quattro FX mask, and had trouble getting control of the leaks. I went to my RT for help with fitting, and she tightened it way down and said that was how it was supposed to be. I was surprised, after reading people's experience on this board, but it is working much better. Once I get my Windows computer back from the shop, I'll read the card and see what difference that is or is not making.

Re: Full face mask
at padacheek web site, order a liner for a quattro mirage/ultra mirage FF but be sure to put a note in the comments section saying that you want it for a quattro FX.
the website is not yet updated to include the quattro FX liners but Karen does make them.
I tightened the bottom straps from the way the DME fitted the FX and the leaks went down to 4 or 6. The straps dont feel TOO tight.
