The bill came! (Sharing info)

Hi folks:

While sifting through the boards here, I saw a few threads about the cost of a sleep study. As my company and insurance provider want me to be a "better healthcare consumer" - insert laugh track - they insist on sending me notices of what things cost and what they paid, even when I have no copay. While normally it's just annoying (I get that info right from the doctor), this time I can report that info here to answer some of the questions of my fellow inflatees =)

Note: This information is specific to my health care plan and to the NYC area, your mileage WILL vary.

The un-discounted amount was $2000 even.
After negotiation, the actual bill was just shy of $1400

I hope this info is of some help to those looking for number on what this will cost them.

Wife and I both had the sleep study less than a month ago, looked online and the bill was 3800.00 each. We have to pay 20% of that.

For those unfortunate people who do NOT have insurance, the amount will vary more. The amounts charged and reimbursed by insurance companies are usually negotiated at the contract table. And sometimes, we that have insurance are asked for more money than the uninsured. Paying our premiums apparently doesn't count for much!!
