Most of you are a bunch of nice people!
Re: Most of you are a bunch of nice people!
It's great to see all the positive things written on here. This & other forums like it have been great for me & I'm sure I speak for the majority of people who use it when I say, keep up the good work!!!
Re: Most of you are a bunch of nice people!
I agree that this is a great place with supportive people. There may be a few rotten eggs, but the community takes care of them without the need for the nanny police state another forum has.
I got a lot of help as a newbie and I'm honored to have the chance to pay it forward.

Yes, wonderful board here!
The only forums I found in France seemed to all hold the same type of messages "Ay sink ay avve hapneeah, houw kan ay gett disssabilitee penssionn?" (insert all type of ways to get money) (the spelling is intentional on my part to reflect that of said boards).
And concerning the tensions between some people, there again, it's nowhere near what I read on those french boards!

Re: Most of you are a bunch of nice people!
It is unbelievable to see strangers helping strangers in this way. It sure does restore your faith in humanity.
I would have been lost if not for this forum. When your first diagnosed with sleep apnea your usually at your lowest point. Sleep deprived, crabby to say the least and sick.
No one wants to listen to you as your not making much sence in your condition....but the people on here understand this. We've all been there too.
It's people helping others. Can bring tears to your eyes.
I'm very sure I would not have made it without these people and all the past posts to read.
Why do you need a support group? Because one has to walk in your shoes to really understand.
This forum is full of angels male and female. There must be a reason!!

I came home from my bike ride to find no power.
Garage door did not open on my command
(garage door opener).
My first and immediate thought was my cpap.
W/hardly any thought, I retrieved the trusty
Mseries and my Bluetop and cables.
Quick check of settings that all was correct.
Setup and ready to go in minutes.
As I was doing this, my thoughts were on this
group and the education I received/receive here.
Indeed, thank you!

Re: Most of you are a bunch of nice people!
I'm quite happy that my first post here at cpaptalk could be a resounding +1 for what Blake said! I've been able to find answers to virtually all of my questions just by searching through the amazing amount of great information on this site.blakepro wrote:I just wanted to take a moment to thank the members of cpaptalk.com for dedicating their time, thoughts, and energy to help countless people every day who suffer from various sleep disorders and are desperately trying to make sense of it all.
Without the members of this forum, I would still be in the dark on so many things regarding my sleep disorder and how to treat it effectively. With the information I have received here, I have received better results and improved health. I have also been able to feel less alone in this and find that being able to talk with others about the problems we each face has a tremendous value all on its own.
You dont have to be here. You dont have to spend countless hours each month typing out replies to people- trying to answer questions and help, but you do! Even when those questions are often repetitive as new people constantly flow to this place. Why do you do it? I dont know, but I think it has something to do with most of you being nice people that want to help others.
I just wanted to speak out and let you all know that I appreciate it.
Thank you
-Blake

Re: Most of you are a bunch of nice people!
The folks here are truly amazing. Not only do they share their experiences and answer your questions (sometimes repeatedly), but I have been lucky enough to have "met" indivuduals that have shared software, sent me masks that they tried a few times and didn't like, and "talked" me though some rough spots when my dad was sick and died. No reservations, no judgments, just good folks!
So I say thank you to all! And wish that may all enjoy the great experiences here that I have been fortunate enough to have had!
Rick

I have been a member of this forum for a few years and always remember and thank "rested gal" and a few others to whom I owe a huge 'thank you' for always being there with the answers when I needed them.
I also want to thank our hosts, John and Carolyn Goodman who started this whole thing and support it to this day. With out them and their Company, "CPAP.com" , we would all be "---- out of luck" finding answers.

Re: Most of you are a bunch of nice people!
Yep, yep and yep.
If I hadn't found this forum and received the spot-on advice I was given, I'd still be using the Remstar PLUS I was prescribed in November of 2007. I'd never have parted ways with my sleep doc, because I wouldn't have known how badly I was being treated for my apnea. I'd never have searched for (and found) the machine I really needed to treat me effectively. I'd still be waking up tired, falling asleep during the day, afraid to drive any distance for fear of nodding off behind the wheel... My face would hurt because my mask was not adjusted properly. I'd still be mouth-breathing with a nasal mask.
I could go on and on, but you all know the drill. This place has saved countless members so much time, effort and struggle with their therapy, thanks to the generosity of those who give so freely of their time and energy in educating and helping others. It's the best online community I've ever participated in or come across, and that's really saying something.
Cheers to Johnny and Caroline and everyone who calls this place home. (And thanks, Blake, for starting this topic. )

I'm really not a jerk....but sometimes I act like one!
But truly, I wouldn't be where I am without the people of this forum. All of my brothers have osa...they suffer along or just tolerate their machines, and I happily go on my way, loving my machine because so many of you have taught me so much!
People always wonder where I've learned so much...and I give all of you the credit!
Cheers!

Re: Most of you are a bunch of nice people!
Cheers and huggs to many folks that I will never meet except in type written form *graciously bows*.
Like so many, I would NEVER have made the advances in my therapy had it not been for you.
The knowledge in the forum multiplies. My job hired a new Purchasing Agent that will be having his sleep study after the first of April.
I've been sharing my knowledge with him that I have learned from you. I also made sure that he is aware of this forum also.
I got to thinking about this yesterday that we spend around a 1/3 to 1/4 of our lives sleeping. Therefore, it would behoove us to know what necessary steps we need to take to be proactive with our therapy to maximize the benefits of sleep which is such an important part of our lives. We have veterans and newbies come on the forum. I fall somewhere along the continuum and pipe in when possible. We have shared our tears and joys, victories and defeats. We keep moving forward to the goal of a better night's sleep.
