How to piss off your DME REALLY BAD

This also needs to be taken into background context that I had not gone into before on here. I had a lot of trouble with this particular DME before this all started. The relationship was never any good and they had given me a machine that was not calibrated properly and I had to CALL THEM to swap it out. They acted pissy about it. Their attitude was just plain sorry. I filed a formal written complaint against this DME with the NC Respiratory Therapy board, I tore them a new asshole in the complaint.

After the complaint, things got better with the DME, their attitude improved a lot. But when I went to a different sleep doctor and told him about all of the problems I had with them in the past, he acted like he understood entirely and even admitted to me he had problems with them himself. And he ordered me an S9 APAP and coached me to say that to the DME when they would tell me "it aint happening because of your insurance." When I told them what he told me to say, they about blew a gasket.

Thats when I decided I was done with them and went and bought my own S9 out of pocket. I have just fucking had it with DMEs and insurance. They have been blocking me from getting medical care.

LOL -- I don't take much seriously anymore on this particular situation.

A little negativity comes here at times, but this forum is an overall nice place, with good support and a positive attitude. Someone that insists on spreading negativity usually doesn't fare well for long.

Whether the OP is legitimate or not, the attitude isn't healthy and truly is NOT what this forum is about.

I flipped a coin between Resmed and Phillips Respironics. Since I was already familiar with Resmed S8 APAPs and they had worked extremely well for me until recently, I went with Resmed S9. Im not being a party pooper when I make the claim the S9s are not as durable, not the same as the S8s.

Im concerned for Resmed because the FFM that has worked for me really really well up until still current is the Mirage Quattro. If Resmed goes out of business in the next couple years, I will be SOL on FFMs unless their is another comparable FFM I can find. And I really dont enjoy all these changes.

My attitude is "if it aint broken, dont fix it."

I gotta tell you, one thing that blows me away is how people honestly believe medical care will improve under obamacare. Its already micromanaged enough with health insurance companies dictating to physicians, hospitals and patients. Now we are going to have the federal government dictating as well. Makes me want to run for cover. Or go hide or come up with a scheme to become rich all of a sudden. Because Im like "there aint no way in hades I believe things are gonna get better with the government micromanaging healthcare."

If anything its gonna get worse. Thats why I want to bypass all of them and pay out of pocket a lot. Keeps the bs levels down. And expedites things a lot.

I really, really feel bad for folks who all they have is medicaid, medicare or military tricare. Holy smokes. Scary. Serious. Its really scary.

Only place I know of where socialised medicine seems to work well is Germany and the Nordic countries. And thats probably more because of their work ethic and culture than anything else. Canada its a disaster, the UK its a disaster. I KNOW socialized medicine will be a disaster here as well. Americans dont have a good work ethic anymore and are always looking for the easy way out. Having the "gubmint" handle your health is like giving your car keys to your thirteen year old...disaster waiting to happen.

If I was fifteen years younger and with no health problems, Id be looking to move overseas somewhere. I dont know where, but the USA is falling apart IMO. I was in the drugstore today waiting on my ambien prescription for my sudden sleep study I got called for today. On the cover of Time magazine, the title was something like "America is in decline." No shit, sherlock. Seems like since 2008, things have been going downhill steadily.

Ive got a bumper sticker on my car that says VOTE COMRADE OBAMA Make Karl Marx Proud. Its in red and yellow with a hammer and sickle. Its the ultimate middle finger to obama I can think of without getting in legal trouble.Ive gotten a few nasty looks from it before. But I really dont care for this socialized medicine shit after what Ive been through with health insurance.

What we need is not socialized medicine, but health insurance reform. The health insurance companies need to be legally and judicially drop kicked. Some of those insurance execs need to be imprisoned and their practices need to be legislated out of existence. They simply need someone standing over them forcing them, literally forcing them to pay claims that are legit.
