Remstar HH confusion

Post by groggybob » Sun Dec 18, 2005 11:55 am

I have a chance to buy a new in the box Remstar integrated heated humidifier for my Remstar Pro with Cflex machine. The confusion comes in the fact that my machine only has two connections in the back. One for AC power and one for DC power, the other connection, which I assume would be for the humidifier, is blocked out by a plastic cover. I have checked behind the cover and there is no connection there, only empty space. I have told the seller this and they claim that the HH would still work with my machine even though they state that the HH connects directly to the CPAP. There is a humidifier button on my machine. Am I missing something here or am I correct in assuming that the HH will not work with my machine?

The power cord you now have hooked up to your REMstar plugs into the HH and the HH has a cord that plugs into the REMstar. They say you can't use a A/C Backup device with the HH, but I have mine hooked up that way anyway. Since the HH is controlled from the REMstar Unit, I don't know if it would work without the CPAP to control it.

I want my CPAP on My APC BACK-UPS NS 1250, I tried to contact REMstar, but they are not a friendly web site. So right or wrong it's hooked up to it.

On my Remstar Pro 2 the heated humidifier part has a "pig tail" that is plugged into the same place the orginal wall socket cord was. The cord from the wall socket which use to plug into the Remstar (before humidifier) then plugs into a socket on the heated humidifier. You can then turn the humidifer on/off with the button on the Remstar. The CPAP air flow does not have to be on if you want to pre-heat your water.

If you hold the heater on/off button down for a few seconds the screen will show you what the heat setting is. You can adjust the setting up or down with the Heat/Ramp buttons.

Make sure the humidifier comes with the silicon connector ring. This ring goes between the humidifier tank and the 6 ft hose outlet port on the RemStar. Without his ring you can not get a seal between the humidifier and the Remstar. Mine came with two rings or at least that's what my DME gave me.

Thanks Guys, I knew I could count on my fellow hoseheads.

I really wanted an HC150, but couldn't pass up a brand new Remstar integrated for $75. Can't wait to fire it up and try out the new nasal mask.

I would like to make a correction about the REMstar HH, I had thought I had read on this forum that the HH couldn't be ran from a D/C to A/C Inverter or a APC. I broke down and read the book that came with it, (new for me to do) It states that it is OK to run it on a good working D/C to A/C Inverter or a APC of the proper rating. So I feel better about that, I am safe.
