Do I need larger nasal pillows (they occasionally slip out)

Post by needzzzzs » Mon Feb 21, 2011 3:36 pm

I used a Swift LT for her mask. I do sleep on my side now (couldn't at first), and notice that occasionally I'm awakened by the hissing of the nasal pillow which has come out of my nose. I'm using small pillows. Should I try the next size up?

Another issue might be the lack of a hose hanger, thus putting tension on the mask when I reposition myself during sleep. I'm going to get my husband to build me one.

It could be a combination of the two, I suppose?

Ideas for which problem to address first?

Thanks!

Debbie

Happy Birthday...

The pillows can come out with movement and fairly easily sometimes. Wouldn't hurt to try the next size up to see but also wouldn't hurt to try to reduce hose movement.

The Swift LT comes with a clip that allows you to clip the short hose to the headgear. Using that, the nasal pillows should be pretty stable, and you shouldn't be having a problem with them slipping out of place like that. You can certainly try going up a size of nasal pillows, as long as you get a good seal it might be more stable.

A hose hanger is a nice thing to have.

Will try to do both -- thanks, Pugsy!

Thanks for reminding me about this, Jan. I'll give that a try tonight and see if it makes any difference.

I was using the XS pillows with mine and they were very comfortable, but my machine was showing some leakage. I have used the S pillows for the past two nights and although I think they are slightly less comfortable (I can feel the cold of the air against my nose and keep thinking there is a leak), the machine shows 0.0 leakage in the morning. I guess I'll stick with the small ones.

I've tried clipping the hose up to the headgear and I feel like it pulls the pillows away from my nose.
