My friend at the sleep center says she doesn't have extra machines but she knows all the dme's that do have rentals.A phone call to ask wouldn't hurt.
GOD BLESS YOU!

I'm in Phoenix, AZ...haven't found a lot of places that have CPAP rental but the rental places require an Rx too so it's just more of the same problem!!

I'd suggest looking on Craigslist. There are lots of inexpensive machines listed, often with very little usage hours. I bought a backup Respironics Pro for $400, but there are many around $200, or less.

I would suggest Craigslist also. Large city like Phoenix should have some choices. This would enable you to get a machine quickly without going through the RX hassle.

If you were closer to me I could offer my back up M Series APAP with CFlex. It doesn't have a whole lot of hours on it and would certainly get you by. I have been wanting to try the PR System One APAP then my current M Series APAP with AFlex would be my backup.

CalB. wrote:Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I don't have a DME supplier per se; my one and only machine was furnished by the sleep clinic where I had my study. I've had it 4.5 years and never had a problem with it until now. The sleep clinic is the place that has my records with my Rx. I'm pretty sure legally they have to supply me with a copy of my records including my Rx and pressures. Do I have that right??

I found my sleep study report but it doesn't provide info on the pressures. And my machine is now totally dead so I can't even read it off the display. This issue wouldn't be so complicated if I wasn't without insurance for the first time in my life. Doing everything without a doctor or insurance is really difficult.
Yes. They have to supply you with a copy. However they don't HAVE to do it quickly and you're in a hurry. In other words beg - don't threaten. At the very least you need to find out what the pressure was - even if they just tell it to you over the phone. With that you can buy a used machine without a prescription or persuade a new doctor to write you a replacement prescription.

It seems strange that there's no mention of a pressure on the sleep study report? Did you have a separate titration? Is there any chance there's another report you haven't found?

Good luck. I'm also without insurance and without a regular doctor and with an aging cpap machine. I'm not looking forward to the day when I need to replace it.
