Reputable Seller of Device to Force Side-Sleeping?

Post by OSA_Destroyer » Wed Feb 09, 2011 2:29 pm

Hi CPAP. I am trying to learn to side-sleep to correct my positional OSA (with cpap, of course). But it's a tough battle, I am a committed back sleeper and I often wake up on my back with my apap pressure at max, cheeks puffed out, leaks, etc. So I tried putting pillows behind me, that didn't work. I tried sleeping on the couch, that didn't work - I still managed to sneak onto my back! I tried a really heavy backpack but I managed to slip and slide through the straps and ended up on my back. I tried the tennis balls-t-shirt trick but apparently I can just sleep on tennis balls no problem!

I once saw a webpage for a device with an elastic band and a weird shaped foam piece (or similar) that you literally could not sleep with underneath you. I want one, but I can't find the website AND THE SITE LOOKED REAL SHADY. I would prefer something from CPAP[dot]com (searched, didn't find one) or similar, not some shady scam site that looks like it's from the late 90's/aol days. lol

Thanks friends.

Also, I am Bob3000 but I change my password today and I can't remember it (lol). And I used a temp email address to create that account last year. I hate having to enter these confirmation codes.

Bob, it's easy to design a coffin like box 12" wide inside and you lie inside on your side. The box has axel at each end supported on the head or foot board of the bed. To get out you or your partner turn the axel's wheel to spill your body out. But since the difference in pressures between lying on your side or you back to achieving same OSA treatment efficiency is only 2 cm H20 (higher on your back), does it pay?

Seriously, I use a small backpack which I stuffed with an empty 20-ounce rigid plastic waterbottle (empty). I wear it every night all night.

Here is another device that has been recommended to me -

The Zzoma people are legitimate despite a clunky website.

Where did you get that information? The degree of positional sleep apnea varies greatly from person to person and so do the differences in pressure requirements.

I need 7.5 cm on my sides and tummy and 19 cm on my back. This titration has been done at home with my CPAP and patient software, and confirmed in a sleep lab.

Wearing a backpack all night is a piece of cake compared to 19 cm.

In my particular case, CPAP is very effective when I'm on my side and very ineffective when I'm on my back. The amount of pressure required when I am on my back is far more than 2cmH20 beyond the side-sleeping baseline. I can keep the pressure around 11cmH20 on my side and I'm fine; I need to raise the pressure above 16cmH20 on my back and even then I still get an AHI above 5. So no,

Thanks boss. That device looks pretty good, but is that site legit? Also, why doesn't cpap[dot]com have this device or similar? Seems like a no-brainer. Is it that there are no legit manufacturers of these devices?

Maybe because it is so expensive the sales volume would be low? But if you do want to spend $100, Zzoma is a legitimate company despite the clunky website.

Don't you have a small backpack in a closet somewhere?

We have quite a few of those types in drawers and closets given out free as promotions. They are small, made with a thin nylon fabric and have a promotional logo on them. The straps are more like strings. Put a kid-sized football in one and it works well.

I bought the Zoma, but it doesn't work for me. It is possible to turn in such a way that the device slips around you and the chunky part ends up at your side and you end up on your back. That's after putting it on as tight as I could stand. if you will sleep through tennis balls, you'll probably outwit this device like I did. I say that with no joy.

Roster, I got this info here:

But before thgat I got it here showing the 2 cm H2O diff:
