Mask setting for Resmed S8 Elite II with Respironix Nasal?

Post by schnarchen » Tue Feb 01, 2011 4:50 pm

I am using the Resmed S8 Elite II with the H4i humidifier and a Respironix Easylife nasal mask.

My question is that I see that the clinician set up the mask as a "SWIFT" which according to the manual is a nasal pillows system. Is this right, or should it be set up as something else?

My choices are:

ULTRA
MIR FULL
ACTIVA
SWIFT
MIRAGE
STANDARD

Thanks for any advice.

It depends on the flushing air flow of the mask (function of pressure).
You can find them in mask manuals.

For MIR FULL (Ultra Mirage Full Face Mask) the table is:

press(H2O) flow (L/min)
4 22
8 32
12 41
16 48
20 54

Assuming you mean the same data as the "Intentional Leak Rate", I do have a graph which shows flow (standard liters per minute) vs. pressure (cm H2O).

Trying to read these from the graph, I get...

press(cm H2O) - flow (slpm)
2.5 - 12
5 - 18
10 - 26

So which setting would match that one?

Excellent, exactly what I needed! Thanks.

Interesting though, that all of the Resmed mask types have a much higher leak rate than the Respironix Easylife. It looks like SWIFT is a good choice since it is the lowest leak rate across most of the pressure range.

There IS this kind of doc. I would have asked for something like this if I would have guessed
that something like this existed.

Nice nasal mask, quite comfortable - i used it for a period of time before migrating to nasal pillows. Good luck with it
