POLL: Why are you here?
POLL: Why are you here?
I recently read a post from a member that indicated he or she believed most of the information provided was wrong, and could easily do more harm than good. It made me wonder why people are here. This is certainly not scientific in any way....... Why are you here?

Re: POLL: Why are you here?
I would have preferred to see "My prescribing professional is NOT a dedicated sleep doc" rephrased as "My sleep professionals are neither helpful nor dedicated".

Women are Angels. And when someone breaks our wings, we simply continue to fly.....on a broomstick. We are flexible like that.

Since no one has answered yet, I edited the poll. Your wish is my command. Thank you!

Re: POLL: Why are you here?
My new sleep doc is helpful and dedicated, I'm here to learn, give and get support and fight the forces of evil.
Any landing you walk away from is a good one; if you don't break your airplane it's excellent.
Re: POLL: Why are you here?
That would have been one of my original reasons"My prescribing professional is NOT a dedicated sleep doc"
But now I actually have a sleep doctor, and I'm hopeful she is helpful and dedicated...still too new to know."My sleep professionals are neither helpful nor dedicated".

Re: POLL: Why are you here?
I've said it before and I'll say it again.......the members here are the reason I'm still here and doing so well. My sleep doc and dme have never even given me a phone call to see how I was doing. Every problem I have had or advise I have needed has been supplied by the angels here. That's why I continue to join in and help others from time to time....and of course, I continue to learn something new every day. A GREAT BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE HERE...YOU ARE DEFINITELY MY ANGELS!!!!!!!
Cheers

Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.
Re: POLL: Why are you here?
Thank you. I chose for the advice and support, etc. I receive here. But my choice could have as well been the new wording re: sleep professionals. And actually the one is rather complimentary and goes hand in hand w/the other - at least in my situation.

Re: POLL: Why are you here?
Mostly to problem solve and talk to other people who understand the situation. Although medical professionals have the technical info, and many are empathetic, I really feel that only people who are dealing with the problem truly understand. Thanks to all of you for being here!
Re: POLL: Why are you here?
I chose the first four and "other."
By "solve problems," my vote means trying to be helpful with other people's problems, not so much my own, since I don't feel I'm having any problems with my PAP therapy these days.
It was info posted by a fellow patient that allowed me to make my first bilevel work for me when I was first starting out. I increased the maximum inspiratory time myself after learning online how to get into the clinician's menu, then called the sleep doc the next morning to tell him what I did and why. He didn't mind. If I hadn't been able to get that help online, I would have given up on PAP therapy forever the first night, since my doc doesn't know much about machines and my first DME had staff who didn't know how to tie their own shoes, let alone how set up a patient's bilevel. I would have been dead in the water, and likely dead in my own bed soon after that.
When I see people here (such as Slinky, rested gal, -SWS, ozij, Not Muffy, and a bunch of others) using their time to be helpful to strangers who don't know where else to turn for help, it motivates me to join them in trying to be helpful.
Well, at least, that is the case when I'm not posting as that troll named "who," anyway.

I chose the first three and "other"....as I am also here to amuse and be amused!

Re: POLL: Why are you here?
Hi Nan, I see you haven't met any of our little "devils" yet! Seriously, my sentiments exactly, I believe I owe my husband's life to these "angels".nanwilson wrote:I've said it before and I'll say it again.......the members here are the reason I'm still here and doing so well. Re: POLL: Why are you here?
The first four....
and echoing many others--I don't think I could have continued with apap if it hadn't been for this forum. Discovering the software, and learning how to take control, and learning SOOOOOOOO much about OSA has kept me going through the rough times.
Many thanks again to all of the experienced folks who share their time here.
