The 64,000.00 question! Hard to answer!

Post by sister » Sat Jan 22, 2011 12:44 pm

Why is it that you can have such good luck with the seal of a mask for a few days,no problems, then, all of a sudden no matter what you do it won't seal!!

I'm thinking surely it can't be worn out already, I've only used it about a week.
Anyway, I'm going to get out a new one tonight and see if I can sleep some.

Seems like sometimes I can have such a good seal one night and then the next night I do the very same things and It will not seal completely to save my life.

Does anyone else have these irritating problems or is it just me?
Sometimes I'll get up and change masks 2 or 3 times in the night, then again,I'll sleep all night.

Any suggestions?
Thanks!!!

This could be caused by "face fatigue."

Since I've been using FF and nasal masks lately I'm experiencing that exactly. Sometimes the seal will blow in the middle of the night, and NOTHING will get that seal back again. So I've been changing masks at least once almost every night, sometimes twice. What a pain and I'm tired, my sleep is being interrupted.

I can't wait to get back to nasal pillows full time, but I'm still having nasal congestion issues. I'm getting very tired of this! My entire respiratory system is still healing from the very bad respiratory infection I had before Christmas, and now I think I'm fighting off a new cold my daughter has. Ugh!!!!!!!! Just what I DO NOT need!

I have the same problem. Last night was the worst. I ended up with an AHI of 25! It was fine when I fell asleep but once the APAP kicked in with the pressure I have leaks galore. Then I wake up and tighten the mask so there are no leaks but its crushes my nose within an hour. I have pillows on the way from the DME and plan to order a few others from cpap.com. I have high hopes I will find something that gives me more than 3 hours.

In the Quattros defense I was able to get 4-6 hours before no problems and no leaks at all. It bashed up my nose to the point I could not wear the mask for weeks though.

The process continues.
