Re: Poll What Gear Do You Sleep With?
Just the machine, hose, and mask at this point.
Would LOVE a pap pillow, or to find something workable or worth the price --life of the product wise!
I have bought different regular pillows, tempurpedic type pillows as well, and in less than a year I have issues with performance. Maybe I will have to create my own....
Used to use pad-a-cheeks on the straps, but I have been getting no lines on my face since I removed the covers to wash them. Great product, just don't seem to need it right now. Maybe losing 15 pounds helped change the shape of my face and did away with those pressure points! And getting really good at no leaks with the least tightening possible on the straps!
Use a form of aroma. Already have various pure essential oils at home, and prefer "one-note" rather than a mix most of the time. Use sporadically at this point. Have a very small soy candle with a nice mix of pure essential oils. Sometimes I uncap the candle tin, and place near the intake. Mine you, the candle has never been burned! The aroma is less intense, but more portable and neater than oil drops.
At the moment I am not using a hose lifter, but have one, and have loved it in the past. I also an letting the hose hang free, and not using the clip on top of the headgear (I began therapy over 2 years ago with using the top clip nightly. As long as my leaks stay at zero most nights, I'll keep this as is....

Re: Poll What Gear Do You Sleep With?
I have no gear beyond the machine/mask. But I do have an additional mattress pad, that seems to help. I use two pillows under my head, which is very bad for back-sleeping (which i avoid) but essential for side-sleeping.
I also have two enormous plush lions. One of them is soft, but firm construction, and is a little over 1/2 lifesize. He is under the covers, and I use him as a backrest. The second plush lion is 2/3 lifesize, with a lifesize head. He is very soft and floppy (and for many years greeted visitors to the MGM Grand Lion Habitat gift shop in Las Vegas until I 'rescued' him). He gets used as a blanket, something to 'hug' sometimes, and is a deterrent to my two live 'little lions' when I don't want them in my face, etc. When not used as a deterrent, one of the 'little lions' likes to sleep on top of him.
From time to time, I will also get out 'Chucky' my lion rug and sleep under him. He is the 'ultimate plush', but I can't leave him out because the 'little lions' just want to destroy him for some reason. In a spiritual sense, I think Chucky loves it when I use his pelt as a blanket because he is being 'spoiled' again!
What I would really like though, is what a friend of mine in Texas has, and what a couple I know in California had (until the husband had a heart attack, and they had to sell their ranch), is a live lion on the bed. According to my Texas friend, every time he moves, his lioness gives him a hug!

Lions can and do snore....

usually first or second, as i'm a slow starter . reverse is counterproductive . and high gear is just too fast.

Re: Poll What Gear Do You Sleep With?
Well in addition to:
And then there's the iPod in its iHome sitting next to the BiPAP playing Gregorian chants all night long as I sleep ....
And should I mention that I curl into my husband's side as close as I can into his armpit? It's been my pillow for 25 years and it's been hard to figure out how to get my nose properly snuggled into him with Kaa attached to it ..
- The BiPAP, hose, and mask (collectively named Kaa),
The TMJ mouth guard,
The frame pad, hose cozy, and barrel cozy (all from Padacheek)

Wow, the bar of soap really does help with leg cramps. I would not have believed it, but it really did work.

Re: Poll What Gear Do You Sleep With?
Im more of a back to the basics, Keep It Simple Stupid kind of OSA guy. I dont use gadgets or gimmicks. I bought one of the CPAP pillows and it was a total waste of my money.
The only thing listed here that I think it worth anything is:
1) supplemental oxygen if needed, your doctor will determine that and is definitely needed (essential) in some cases.
2) pulse oximeter. I bought a Nonin wrist pulse Oximeter a few years back. I dont use it much, although I spent a huge amount for it. But it has been useful a little. I should use it more often. I also have a spot checker oximeter I bought from REI. I actually use that to spot check for low daytime O2. I find my O2 goes down in the daytime when I let my weight go up, I dont know why that is.

Old poll (nearly 5 years old), but the results pretty much indicate simplicity is rampant.
One note: "pap pillow" is included in the poll, but not buckwheat pillows or the latest entry,
the buckwheat and foam pillow sold by cpapguy. Awesome product!
I've been using mine since June, and I LOVE it!

Re: Poll What Gear Do You Sleep With?
Yes, when I first started treatment, my wife bought me a special "pap pillow". A total waste of 60 bucks. I've been with buckwheat hulls ever since. I've been using cpapguy's pillows and his PAPcap chinstrap for several years.
