Blind Deerhunters in La.

Post by So Well » Thu Jan 06, 2011 10:52 am

Why didn't you think of this?
Louisiana Representative Henry Burns .... walk(ed) a special bill through the legislature last year (that) allows sightless to hunt with rifles in Louisiana.
Think you could get Henry to walk a bill through that makes CPAP OTC?

They must have passed that bill in Virginia, too, as every year some hunter accidently shoots another hunter. I guess it's hard to distinquish a human from a deer.

Louisiana state Rep. Henry Burns (R) has introduced a bill in the Louisiana House that would allow churches to institute a "security plan" enabling congregants with concealed weapons permits to carry guns into churches and temples.
Walk into any den of criminals and you will find guns. I would much rather church members carry guns.

As a matter of fact I have been in a church service recently where a member pulled out his pistol to show to me. He had a concealed carry permit and was recommending I get a permit and pistol.

What about blind church members?

The story is weirder than it looks. It wasn't illegal for someone who couldn't see to hunt deer before this legislation, but is was difficult for his buddies to help point him in the right direction. Ordinarily, Louisiana deer hunters aren't allowed to use laser scopes. It isn't considered sporting to light the deer up with a red dot and pull the trigger. All this bill does is let hunters with serious visual impairments use such scopes, so their colleagues can tell them when they have the deer in their sights. It's probably better for everyone concerned this way, maybe even the deer, who at least gets the benefit of a clean shot.

Do they not consider that you might blind the deer with a laser sight?
