F & P Icon

Post by Bob from Florida » Wed Jan 05, 2011 11:45 am

I am a new user. I started on the F & P Icon in November. I was in the moderate range, but because of being constantly tired in the daytime, the doctor felt that the CPAP was appropriate. I use the full-face mask (the winner in the comparison), so my doctor made a great choice. My AHI levels now range about 70% of the time from 1.0 to 4.2. The highest reading I have has been an 8.1 with most of the 30% between 5.0 and 7.4. I absolutely love the Icon. It is almost silent. Getting the humidity set for me was a bit of a challenge. A lot of bells and whistles. I have noticed one thing about the water chamber. It it best to activate and wait about 10 seconds after it has ramped up to attach the air hose, otherwise you can a nose full of stale air. One funny thing. The doctor could not get the software working to evaluate results (He had the card in his laptop upside down!) The provider of the unit said this is not uncommon, since the USB card for the Icon will fit in the USB Slot either way. The unit is manufactured in New Zealand and is a fantastic (if expensive) unit. Thank goodness for Medicare.

That's great news, Bob. Congratulations!

One concern: If you are getting "stale air" from your humidifier, it might be time to clean the tank.

Unlike his passengers who died screaming as the car went over the cliff...
