I also googled. Was just looking for helpful info at the beginning of my treatment. I found several but this is my favorite. Useful info, good friends, friendly format, etc. I've been here ever since. One great thing for me is that no one ever makes me feel that any question I ask is silly or unimportant. And someone seems to always have experienced the same problems and has suggestions.

Love the sight!!!

other forum?

Post by tomjax » Wed Dec 14, 2005 6:11 pm

Other Forums?? Fora???
There are several others- a couple at yahoo groups.
another TAS,
Awake Forum.
The part time one that closes every weekend and is monitored by a family member and deletes many postings without explaining why.
It is still regarded as the premier forum I suppose.
Then there is this one that seems to be a bit more permissive and less draconian..
Anyone with others I have missed?
If only we had a humor section for aspiring humorists and a section for those with OSA concerns, but then we would not have anything to discuss.
I could be wrong

Don't remember exactly. Probably searched (dogpile.com) for something like CPAP, sleep apnea, etc. Found cpap.com and this forum at the same time.

I have ordered form cpap.com a couple of times. Wouldn't go anywhere else for supplies. Price, service, help. Can't be beat IMHO.

Would recommend both sites as a first stop for anyone.

Hi Johnny, I told a friend in Hawaii about my problems and he told me I had Apnea! I got a sleep study appointment, then went to Google and found cpap.com and the forum right away.

I REALLY appreciate your forum. By the time I got to the sleep study I was armed with information that helped me prevent getting cheated. I had searched cpap.com for the cheapest cpap. (about $325) The sleep doctor wanted me to pay $300 for a cpap AFTER insurance paid him.
I was incensed!
I came back to your forum and learned that I dont want the cheapest possible cpap. Last night I placed an order for more than $1000 from your company. I have ordered before and have talked to Becky twice, She is good to deal with. I have also talked to Claudia twice and she is very good to talk to. Today Leslie said Claudia was out, so I dealt with Leslie. I didn't like her. I wont talk to her again. Leslie claims my debit card isn't working. hmmm, its always worked before. That sure is irritating. You know that apnea makes us grouchy. It may have been me instead of Leslie. but I still dont like her

BrewSwain, that is a very hurtful and mean thing to say. Leslie does a great job on the phones. She's as well versed in CPAP as you can get.

We will certainly work with you on your debit card, but the card company ultimately says if it is accepted or denied - not our phone reps.

Each of our reps takes great pride in their work, because they know they are the best in the world at what they do - if they were not, they would not work for cpap.com. You've hurt Leslie with your words, please apologize.

Johnny

I think I googled or yahood too. I had just had my sleep study, and I was in shock because until then I really didn't know what all this entailed. What do you mean I'm gonna have to wear a mask at night and use some glorified vacuum cleaner in exhaust mode? I was in a panic, desparate to know what this was about and if others had this. I am very grateful for having found cpaptalk about a year ago. Right away I met people who didn't mind if you vented your worry and frustration or your daily drama over getting used to this cpap madness.

I hope you're not so hard on BrewSwain. He said it himself, we apneacs can be on edge about all of this. If he had a bad experience with a salesperson, then he had a bad experience, regardless of who did what. They say the customer is always right (whether or not they actually are). So it's the mark of a good company that can say, hey, things happen, let's try and make it right. Taking the high road even in the face of misunderstandings will bring customers back. Remember, it's the customer, especially those with a medical problem, who are most vulnerable, not a salesperson. Just smile at us cranky apneacs and things will work out fine.

I do not know Leslie or anyone at cpap.com, but I will, when I need products.

Just adding my @ cents, BrewSwain, I think your statement is in very poor taste, and I don't think it can be blaimed on sleep loss. I would guess it would be more likely lack of upbringing and failing social skills. I hope Leslie takes the comment with a grain of salt. You have to consider the source.

Brews,

Debit cards have daily limits on them so if your card is stolen your bank account doesn't get wiped out. This limit is lower than credit cards and since you were doing a purchase of $1,000 you were busting that limit and that is why it was rejected. Even though the card worked before.

So your beef is with your bank. I have never had a bad experience with anyone at CPAP.com. They have the most courteous and helpful people of any supplier I have dealt with on the web.

When I was diagnosed with OSA a year ago I wanted to find out as much as I could about the condition and fortunately an internet search led me to this site that has been a wealth of information and encouragement to me.
I might have given up early in my endeavor to comply with this new way of sleeping with all of the issues and trials that occur. I really want to thank everyone for sharing their experiences (good or bad) as it really has an impact on a "newbie" (like me a year ago) reading these posts to realize they are not "alone" in their struggles. I also want to thank the administrator and any "behind the scenes" people that keep this forum running and the "light shining" as I really felt enveloped in darkness when handed this diagnosis and the prescription plan for the treatment. You are definitely doing a "good work" --May God bless you and I wish each and everyone the best the New Year can bring!!Image

found site thru sleep tech

Post by Mile High Sleeper » Sun Dec 18, 2005 6:16 pm

The sleep technician in my sleep lab told me that he had heard the site is good, even tho he never visited it. I've been lurking for a while. The site is great! It helped me thru the Frustration stage. I've been using my equipment for about 3 weeks and am heavily into the Immersion/ Obsession stage as I seek a better mask. I made a 20 page Word document of your comments to aid my sleep-smartness. Thanks so much for your information and humor!
