Swift vs. Breeze Poll

25% of you thought the Swift quieter than the Aura. I was hoping the Aura was so much quieter than the Swift that the poll would be !00% in favor of the Aura. I plan to get an Aura to complement the Swift, anyway.

I have tried both medium and large pillows with my Breeze interface, however, both inevitably develop leaks during the course of a night's (attempted) sleep.

The Swift has an excellent seal and allows me to sleep in the prone position comfortably.

IMO, The Breeze is quieter than the Swift. The Aura is quieter than the Swift The Aura and the Breeze is the same with noise. I would rate (IMO) The Aura first The Swift 2nd and the Breeze 3rd.........This is on how I rate the mask for comfort and for being effective.... not for the noise factor.

I really confused the issue! The poll was between the Breeze and the Swift, and 25% thought the Swift quieter than the Breeze. The Aura was not included in the poll. But, I'm going to get an Aura and that is why I confused myself. Sorry.

LET US KNOW HOW YOU DO..........It is my favorite(Aura) for now. But you know me. I am alway looking for a new mask to come along

I have a Swift and an Aura (new last week) and a Breeze is in the mail (I bought a CPAP on Yahoo and the guy was so slow shipping that he offered the Breeze for free).

I can't say anything about the Breeze (it will be my back-up back-up), but I like both the Swift and the Aura. The Swift is not noisy (at my low pressure, at least) and makes a constant swoosh noise. The Aura is about the same noise-wise, but it emits more of an inhale/exhale noise (which could be annoying to one's bedmate). The Aura wins hands down on side sleeping comfort and total off-the-face-comfort (although it can be frustrating at times to get the seal right - lots of adjustment tweaks).

PS (and disclaimer): I got the Aura on CPAP.COM (quick and easy) and I will never use Yahoo again (slow and risky) . If my machine ever comes (and if anyone is interested), I will post my Yahoo Auction experience. Not a story for the feint of heart.

Don't tell me you're going to be one of the too macho men on this site that are afraid to try some mantyhose to help keep the leaks under control...that may do the trick for you.

So far so good without the mantyhose (but the rubberbands are a possibility). Once I get the thing sealed (only a few seconds) it stays that way all night. Knock on wood.

I'm not going to start a new topic for 'Overall Impressions of Swift vs. Breeze' as there have been many, as a Search will reveal.

I got a Breeeze and slept with it night before last. It is quite a contraption, what with all the parts and adjustments.

It is quieter than the Swift, but there seemed to be a leak around the rubber insert that houses the exhaust port, as there was a wheezing sound about the exhaust. I taped around the perimeter of the insert, being careful not to cover the exhaust port. This eliminated the 'wheeze'.

The Breeze has a plastic pad at the back which is noticeable when lying with the back of the head against the pillow.

The Breeze doesn't stay in place as well as the Swift.

The Breeze pillows are more obvious in the nostrils due to the rigid support. The Swift just seems to 'melt' in. All you can feel is the soft plastic barrel above the upper lip.

I started out with the Breeze last night...to give it another try. After all, I'd been using the Swift for several weeks. I had it well adjusted and it was comfortable. But...but, it seemed that my breathing was restricted with it? I just didn't want to deal with it.

I put the Swift on and felt relief, as if I could breath better. I'm sure that this is very subjective, but mask preferences are...subjective.

But, darnit, the Swift is a noisy interface. And, that has been my main complaint from the git go. Everytime I inhale the thing emits a swoosh and the CPAP machine is swooshing, too. I think maybe because the Swift has such a high exhaust rate?

In summary,

The Swift stays in place better
The presence of the pillows is less noticable with the Swift
The Swift is more compact
The Breeze is quieter
I can breathe better with the Swift

I will return the Breeze to my DME.

I had thought that I would get the Aura, but after dealing with the Breeze 'contraption', well, the Aura seems to be quiet a 'contraption' , too.

Hmm. Maybe the Nasal Aire II or Comfortlite Nasa Interface. I'll do a search on this site to see what you have posted.

Maybe I need to try a nasal mask: a nice compact, light, but most of all, a quiet one. Is that the Aciiva? Help, please.

You'll be missing out on a top notch interface, imho, if you skip trying the Aura (Headrest by Aeiomed). All of these interfaces are so different from each other, your experience with one is not at all the way another can be.

I'd definitely give the Aura a try before those others you mentioned. Hey Jerry, if you buy an Aura out of pocket from an online store and it doesn't suit you...I'll buy it from you if you reduce the price just a leeetle and IF it has the clear plastic "lockbox" on top, not a beige colored one. Be sure to tell them you want the one with clear plastic instead of beige plastic on top when you order. I don't mind using a "pre-owned" mask.

definitely skip over the comfortlite, if you felt that the breeze was a contraption! I pulled out my old comfortlite recently, figuring maybe it was better than I remembered. I spent a bunch of time fiddling with it and still couldn't get it to work well in a sleeping position, so went back to my Swift/Activa combo.

I would suggest trying the Aura, definitely, before the Comfortlite.

I figure one of these days I need to try the Aura, but I just can't justify the expense at the moment when I have a system that works pretty darn good, albeit not perfect, right now.

I must agree that I wish they could quiet down the Swift and have it aim that jet exhaust somewhere other than at your bed partner.

If this DME will make you the same offer of taking back the Aura if you don't like it, don't say "No" too quickly. I, too, was not compatible with the Breeze, but found the Swift and the Aura to be great, easy to use and two of the best I had tried, out of the five. Some people do, however, also complain about the Aura being a bit noisy, too, but I never minded the noise it made. Athough I also never minded the Swift and never really found it a distraction.

I guess, as you know and have said, it's all subejctive in the eyes of the user. But if you have the good fortune to be able to try and return, what do you have to lose?

You better listen to rested gal.........this is one (Aura) mask you want to try. Remember I have tried all 3 & the Aura is my favorite the Swift second........the Breeze around 42
