Is the strap under the chin only for stability, or does it keep your mouth closed?

The OSA patient died quietly in his sleep.
Unlike his passengers who died screaming as the car went over the cliff...

It certainly won't keep my mouth completely closed. I can lower my mandible a little.
If I open too much, pressure on the chin strap strap pulls the pillows out of my nose.
I'm interested in what others say.

It's just for stability - and it doesn't provide much.

Stability only, still have to tape my mouth shut!

Thanx, all! I was afraid of that. I was given a new one and thought it may be a less-bulky alternative to the Hybrid. But I'm not going back to that taping/gluing/chinstrap crap! CPAPAuctions, here I come! lol
