I want to tape my mouth as the chin strap I got is worthless. I know there are many experienced folks here who use tape and would like any counsel about methodology. is it just one strip across the lips? I have read about having a tab on the end to make it easy to take it off.
Blue painters tape seems to be the preferred tape.
Use the "easy release" type, and just ask if you cannot find it. I buy mine at Home Depot.

It's the perfect width, at least for my big mouth, and doesn't pull your skin off when you remove it, however, chap stick on the lips is definitely a good idea.

Poli-grip strips and blue painter's tape.
Without the poli-grip, i just drool the tape right off.

I think for most of us who tape, this approach simply will not work as it leaves areas on two sides for the air to escape.

At least for me, my entire mouth must be covered.

The vertical placement doesn't work for me, either. I need two inch horizontal to completely seal and keep from blowing off. Drool doesn't seem to loosen the micropore tape, plus it has softer edges than blue painters tape.

Actually, the tape on Jeandre' will work very nicely with a half piece of Poli-grip strip coming in from either corner of the mouth, with the gap under the tape. Unfortunately, the poor kid can't talk--or was that the plan?
