New Years Resolutions

Post by jromano » Thu Dec 30, 2010 12:01 pm

Hi all,

A little OT...

Every year when the end of December rolls around, I get to thinking about new years resolutions. For years I agonized over what change to make on January 1 that I would then work like a madwoman at for, okay let's face it, until the end of February... tops.
Then for years after that I went through a phase where I boycotted new years resolutions (why not make such an *important* change at any other time of the year?).

The only (yes, probably truly the only) resolution that I have ever stuck with was about 5 years ago when I decided that I would make getting a full night's sleep a priority over work, fun, activities, etc. I would be preaching to the choir to reiterate the importance of good quality & quantity of sleep. Since then, I've just 'renewed' my resolution each year (is that even allowed?? )

I have been thinking that this year I would branch out a bit, but I'm still undecided. I'm thinking less along the lines of 'go to the gym more often' and more of 'gut a fish that I catch'.

What are you best (and worst!) new years resolutions???

Cheers,
Jess

I resolve to view each day as an opportunity to do the best I can with what I have to work with.

I resolve to support the resolutions of all those around me.

And I resolve not to get too discouraged at my occasional lack of resoluteness.

To slay the insomnia monster.

It will take a concerted effort and much hard work.

It will most likely not be done by the end of January. And if it looks like he's defeated by the end of January, I must not be lulled into believing he is really dead.

But by next December, I hope that I will be sleeping soundly and comfortably in the embrace of Kaa, my BiPAP instead of resenting Kaa's presence in my life due to the evil influence of the insomnia monster ....

Worst I ever made: lose 2 #s a week . . . can't remember how fast that one went by the wayside

I seldom make resolutions 'cause it's just a way to make myself feel lousy about myself when I break 'em, so instead I just decide what I'm going to focus on and go from there. Lately, that's been taking care of myself physically and that's quite enough given my angsting over lack of a job. Today my doc gave me an Rx for some physical therapy for my shoulder muscles and re-affirmed that I likely did some tendon damage when I fell and it does take months to heal; poking around with me saying ouch ouch that's the spot, she agreed the pain is likely from tight muscles. She endorsed drinking ginger tea as I wean off the diclofenac sodium.

Happy New Year's everyone!

I like to make resolutions I can follow through with, so I resolve to drink more champagne, finish knitting a pair of socks for my hubby, and have good times with friends. Happy new year to all, Kathy
Any landing you walk away from is a good one; if you don't break your airplane it's excellent.

This is the year of me. My younger daughter's family has always lived out of state. My older daughter's family (that I've lived with the last few years) is moving out of state in a couple weeks. I think I'm going to find a place and stay in this area, at least for a while. This is a major life change. It is my hope this will be an opportunity to discover who I am at this point in life, and that I will take this opportunity to be focused on discovering just how much health I can regain.
