Well friends, good news!! It has been two weeks and as far as I can tell, all is a-ok. My therapy hours are averaging a little over 7.5. My nasal pillows are getting more and more comfortable each and everynight. I don't have my software yet. I'll be ordering that on my next payday, but my basic #'s seem good...
AHI = 1.1
Large Leak = 0%
Periodic Breathing = 0% What the heck is periodic breathing anyway???
Believe it or not, I really look forward to going to sleep at night. The mask blows nice cool air while making a very quiet, almost peaceful noise. It's all very relaxing to me, and I haven't experienced my usual insomnia in 2 weeks. Almost straight to sleep after putting on my mask. I also don't wake up at all during the evening, unless my kitty decides to batt my hose around a little...LOL! Just wanted to check in, say HI, and report my progress. Also a big thank you to all who offer support to us newbies, you're all amazing to take time out of what I'm sure are busy days. Please know that it's greatly appreciated, and that I hope to offer support on here as well.
Love,
Michelle/Michwelle
End Of Week Two
Re: End Of Week Two
From the Respironics Website
Periodic breathing, such as Cheyne-Stokes respiration, is recognized by a persistent waxing and waning breathing pattern. Periodic breathing is commonly associated with cardiac issues and may suggest a more serious patient condition. Advanced event detection provides the care team with information that can be used to identify potential patient complications.

Hope this helps. I have the same CPAP machine as you and it has done well for me for the past year. Sounds like things are going very well for you.

Re: End Of Week Two
Great post Michelle! It will inspire others to keep going. As the caregiver for my husband's therapy I can tell you that the gentle sound of the machine and his quiet breathing is a great comfort to me. Even after 2 years I can still remember the pre-cpap days with loud snoring, then deadly quiet, gasping, arousals all night long. Unfortunately some long-term damage has affected his quality of life now, but I'm glad that you younger folks have been diagnosed and treated early enough before it can do real harm.
