Good APAP machine for backup/travel?

Post by DocWeezy » Sun Dec 26, 2010 7:28 pm

I love my S9 Auto, but would like to find a simple APAP machine to have as a backup and travel machine.

Suggestions? Ideas?

The S9 is still new enough that used ones aren't often available used for a decent price, and I'd love to find a backup/travel machine for under $500.

All ideas and suggestions are welcomed. Thanks!

Weezy

I have seen plenty of autoset s9 on my local craigslist for under $500. I am going to guess they are rental returns.

If you send https://www.cpap.com ( the host for this forum) a copy of your prescription you can bid on a machine at http://www.cpapauction.com. I picked up a PR System One apap for under $200 this past summer. It came with humidifier, hose, and carrying case and had a little over 500 hours on it. When it arrived it looked brand new. I keep it next to my recliner in the living room incase I want to take a nap while watching TV. It also goes with me on over night motorcycle trips. It was money well spent.

I checked out the Craigslist listings. The same phone number for both advertisement in NH and MA. It's a 512 area code which is supposed to be in Texas. Wonder how legit these advertisements are then?

Good supplier of used and new cpap equipment: http://www.secondwindcpap.com/
Recommend S8 autoset II if you want apap and data capability

That Texas phone # is dadvertised in other states as well. I could have bought an S9 with mask for $500 but I dont trust her. She has another lasdy that works with her in California. They sell new in the box units. You can use paypal but could still have a problem. If you order an S9 and they send you a box with a $2.00 alarm clock you are not covered outside of Ebay. Even if covered it can take 2 months to get a refund. Perhpas they are legit but how can the prices be that low? I really suspect a scam by the "gypsy travelers". Has any forum member ever bought from her?

Wish it were that way here in Seattle! I've been looking multiple times a day for the past 6 weeks and have seen only 2 S9 Autos listed--one for $750 and one for $1200.

Maybe it'll pick up here in the near future....

I haven't seen that one, maybe she isn't advertising in Seattle. It's easy to see how many cities she's advertising in (just Google some of the ad text), and while that doesn't automatically make it a scam, with a popular item the chances of it being legit are pretty small. I'd buy a machine from a reputable internet dealer, but I'd only buy an xpap off Craiglist if it's local and I can test the machine first.

Secondwindcpap has a section called Open Box.... these are brand new machines but their boxes were opened. Look at the S9 listed here: http://www.secondwindcpap.com/Open_Box.html That is a great deal!
Yes, that blue eyed beauty is my cat! He is a seal point, bi-color Ragdoll. I adopted him in '08 from folks who could no longer care for him. He is a joy and makes me smile each and every day.

I was looking there this morning. My heart started going pitty-pat and I was reaching for my credit card when I saw that one, but when I looked closer I realized it wasn't an auto. I can't do a straight cpap pressure.

BTW Emilia....I always have to take a few seconds and admire your cat. Incredibly gorgeous!!

S8 autoset II is perfectly good machine, with apap. New opened box was recently available, delivered for under $500.....

Awwww, thanks, Doc...... He is my pride and joy! Yes, I did see that it was an Elite rather than the auto..... keep an eye on the site or give them a call. They are super nice folks there. I believe they are closed for the holidays, though, until Jan. 3.
