I have been having difficulties with my mask and wanted to try a different one. Unfortunately, my DME provider went out of business so I had to use a different one. They gave me one to try and told me I could return it within 30 days. After three days I found it was no better than the original one. I drove back 20 miles and returned it, got a receipt, and confirmed that Medicare would not be billed, or at least would be credited for the mask. I didn't like this new dealer so just returned the mask and found a new one that is more familiar with my equipment. I now see that they billed Medicare on the day that I got the mask and have been paid by them. I called and they say that masks are on a purchase basis and can't be returned. Through the 3 other DME providers I have used over many years, I have always been told that the masks are returnable within 30 days and they return them to the manufacturer and get a credit.
As far as I'm concerned this DME proovider has been paid by Medicare and now they will return the mask I rejected and get a credit. Borders on fraud to me.
Can anyone confirm that dealers get a credit from manufacturers for masks returned within 30 days?

Re: CPAP Mask Return Policies
I think the idea is that you EXCHANGE the mask for a different one. They should be willing to keep exchanging until you find one that is acceptable. If you are having a problem, ask for the owner/manager. If you still have a problem, e-mail the manufacturer....
Why not name this DME with their location.

Re: CPAP Mask Return Policies
Well I wouldn't have returned it to them, nor should they have accepted it back, if they weren't going to issue a credit for it to Medicare. All I want to know from perhaps a dealer who is on this board is if the DME provider will get a credit from Resmed if they return the mask.
The name of this dealer isn't important. I'm sure they serve some others well or they wouldn't be in business. They just weren't at all familiar with my Resmed VPAP Adapt SV machine (they said it was machine which hasn't been made in years, when in fact it's a current model) and I couldn't use them as my DME provider as a result.

Re: CPAP Mask Return Policies
The mask manufactures offer a 30 day warranty on their masks. So if a masks is returned within that period they fax in a form to the manufacturer and they will replace the mask. So medicare should either get a credit or you should get a credit for a mask. Most likely they want to give you a credit for the mask. If they wont give you a credit then it is something to contact medicare about.

JIMCHI, You seem to have honorable intentions.
Medicare fraud is estimated to be between $60 - 90 billion annually.
They will probably catch the guy for cheating on one mask. Turn him in.
