Leaks ruining a good thing

Post by SnoozyQ » Mon Dec 20, 2010 12:12 pm

I was on a roll....feeling well, sleeping well. Now my leak rate is up, my AHI is up (from .5 to 2.0) and my pressure is listed as 8.5, when it's set at 10. I had a terrible night, didn't sleep much and had to stay home to seek additional sleep and not drowsy-drive. I missed the office holiday party.

Grrrrr!!

I'm tempted to slather my face in vaseline and make it stick.

Have you perhaps lost/put on weight?
Or possibly too much humidity? I find if the humidity is up too high for the room humidity, my wet mask/pillows slide all over the place.

Cheers,
xena

Nope, no weight change.

And my humidity has been the same. It's like the mask has decided to just not seal anymore! Always eye and chin area.

Aha! how old is the cushion?
I found that Mirage micro cushions lose their stickiness around a month, if not sooner.
The quattro cushions look like the same material/quality.
I have gotten some stickiness back by cleaning them in Dawn/warm water, and rinsing with vinegar and water--but it only staves off the inevitable. New cushion time.
Warning: I asked my DME how he would code the cushion for a full face mask--
they code it as a mask minus cushion(so BCBSNE will allow them $95 less my 10%)
Needless to say, I am now using a new DME who codes honestly.

I've probably been using this one for 2.5 mths....I figured I would need a new one soon. Although I may try a new mask altogether, to address issues with jaw/face pain.

Time for back and forth fun with the DME folks.......
