I Made It--One Year Anniversary

Post by newhosehead » Fri Dec 17, 2010 7:00 am

Well, I made it. It is now officially one year since I began CPAP. It has been a road filled with ups and downs, but I know that the way I feel has definitely changed for the better. Is everything perfect? Nope. But it is far better and I am grateful for that.

I am also grateful to the people here who have taken the time to help and support me. One of the best is Wulfman, who went out of his way more than once to help me optimize my therapy. I can never thank him enough. Madalot has always provided help when she could, encouragement and friendship when she couldn't. Thank you, Madalot. Carbonman was an important part of my journey as well. Thank you, C-Man.

There are certainly others who have been helpful and kind. It is good to have this place to come when you are new to this and have no idea what to do. Without this site, I would not have a data-capable machine. I would not have had the information I needed to stand up to my DME and tell them it was going to be MY way or they could lose a customer (one who is located in a rural area and has a BIG mouth)

Thanks. One year. I made it. Life is better.

Congratulations on this one-year anniversary!!! It's nice to see you back.

What a fabulous post you made and a great testament to the real purpose of this board and the good that it does.

How are you doing? The last time you posted, things weren't going really smoothly.

And thanks for the nice things you said.

Kathy, You are right; it was not going so well there for awhile. Thanks for asking.Turns out I was really in need of a new mask liner. Sometimes, it is just something simple, because that seems to have made a big difference and right now, everything is going pretty well. My AHI is higher than it was initially with CPAP, but still not bad.

I am so glad to hear that you figured out the problem. I'm sorry I couldn't offer more help to you back then. Some of the things that work I just haven't encountered yet.

I'm happy that you're doing better.

Congratulations! I am 4 months into this journey, and the road has been pretty rough for me so far. It is really encouraging to hear from someone who has gotten past the bumps. Thank you for posting this.

Woooooo Hooooo Jeanette,

Congratulations on this milestone!!!
There are many more great nights ahead of you than there have been. This stuff just takes determination and patience. I am so glad you have both and will be around to make the forum an even more wonderful place. When you see newbies struggling, you will now have the first hand experience to not only encourage them but you can also give them great advice as well for optimizing their therapy.

I think this makes you a GRADUATE of Newbieness, You are officially one of us now, welcome aboard Hosehead First Class.
Way to go.

Karen

Jeanette, again, I'm so glad things are better.

Congratulations Jeanette!! Your post will be help others. I see you're also one of the lucky ones to have Den(wulfman) as your Professor. We probably wouldn't be here if it weren't for him and some other "faculty members" that first year who know who they are! Carbonman is my go-to guy for my inspiration and courage. Those are just the two you mention but there are hundreds of others who I learn something from every day. Keep us updated as you go into your second year of successful therapy!

J, pretty much says it all.

I think the most important thing about cpaptalk is
knowing that, on this journey, we are not alone.

There can be no greater validation or compliment,
than to know that we have, infact, paid it forward.
Thank you for sharing.

From the bottom of my heart, you're welcome!

Well done, newhosehead! I wonder if a year ago you wouldn't have bet a nickel on your odds of making it a year. But you came at this with a willingness to learn and do new things and fight for your own well being - hallmarks of success. As things arise, may the knowledge of how far you've come give you the confidence to keep moving forward. Congrats!
Kathy
