Hi Everyone!

Hi everyone! First let me say what a great source of info and support this group has been to me so far. Y'all take a bow! So, on to my story...Here are the numbers from my first sleep study, now mind you, I only slept a little over 2 hours.

wakefulness=71.8%
N 1= .03%
N 2=21.1%
REM=6.8%

133 apneas/hypopneas resulting in an AHI=63 and lowest Oxy desaturation=75%

*****************************************************************

Second study was for titration and they decided my pressure would be set at 11.

Yesterday, I picked up my machine and mask. I received a PR System One Remstar Pro w/humidifier, and an Opus 360 nasal pillows mask. I was extremely excited to start my treatment, and that in part is to all the support I've received at this forum and others.

I had my ramp set to start at 6 cm and last for 35 minutes. I only woke up 2x's all night and I really just rolled over and went back to sleep. This morning I checked my info screen and my total usage time was 7.84 hours. My large leak was @ 0%. My AHI was 3.1 and Periodic Breathing was 0%.

I was VERY pleased and excited that my first night went so well. My only question is the leak percentage...does 0% mean that there were no "significant" leaks?? Because I felt like I might have been leaking a little, maybe.

Anyway, thanks again everyone!

What a great first night! You're doing very well! And you got a good machine with data capability--that's important.

The "Large Leak" on the PR S1 machine records only 7 and 30 day averages for leaks that are well above the acceptable leak rate for the mask. So you will not necessarily see smaller leaks that may or may not be there on the screen data.

You may indeed have had mask leaks, and sometimes brand newbies mistake either the outflow vent air or the outflow vent air hitting a surface and reflecting back to you as a leak. It takes some time to learn what is normal and what is not.

In order to see what's really happening, you will have to purchase Encore Viewer 2.0 software to read the data card in your machine and present it graphically. If you want to see an example of the type of data you can read off the card, you can see it in my datat tutorial at http://maskarrayed.wordpress.com/2010/0 ... -tutorial/. Whether or not the software is worth the money to you depends on whether you are having any problems and how geeky you want to be about this . I find having data and being able to be in control of all aspects of my treatment makes me much more engaged and successful in treatment, but not everyone feels the same.

Don't be surprised if some nights are not as good as others, but you are well on the road to successful treatment from the sound of things.

Congrats on an awesome first night! May the sweet dreams continue!!
Yes, that blue eyed beauty is my cat! He is a seal point, bi-color Ragdoll. I adopted him in '08 from folks who could no longer care for him. He is a joy and makes me smile each and every day.
