Where we live, power goes out for about ten days a year in winter. I would like suggestions from people who have and like the machines they have with battery back-up. I was hoping for one with heated humidifier, and with easy breathing -- by which I mean a relaxed mode for exhalation. Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

Re: Does you machine have battery back- up?
Not many Mach have built in battery back up, I purchased the respironics back up,should give me 2 days without the humidifier which eats up lots of power. We lose power here a few times a year, have a small generator for the furnace, and a few lights, so I can recharge with it if we are out for longer. Others have put together their own back ups with marine batteries. Get a good data capable machine, a non integrated back up is easy .
Any landing you walk away from is a good one; if you don't break your airplane it's excellent.

Re: Does you machine have battery back- up?
I have a battery back up but it would NEVER last 9 days in a row. It would last for 9 hours with maybe a 1/3 charge left for next time. And, this is WITHOUT using my humidifier. The one that I chose is very inexpensive: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_ ... erpack+600.
I purchased (2) - one for me and one for my husband's machine. We don't often get power outages but when we do it's usually around 6 hours or so and so far has not been all night.
Best regards,

With that level of seasonal outage...... do you have any power backup plan at all for your electrically powered appliances (etc)?MoonBear wrote:Where we live, power goes out for about ten days a year in winter.
Also, do you have a bottled or reticulated gas supply available?
Cheers,
Bill

I'm assuming that this is multiple outages, totalling about 10 days per year, and it's NOT a single outage of 10 days. There's a big difference in back-up requirements for these two needs. Assuming your power is not out for more than 2 days at a time, a large deep cycle battery should meet your requirements. That includes usage of your humidifier.MoonBear wrote:Where we live, power goes out for about ten days a year in winter. Note that not all humidifiers will operate directly on 12 volts and will require use of a power inverter. Inverters use more power.
FWIW, I use a Respironics System One, with humidifier. I like the xpap and it runs directly on 12 volts. However, you need 120vac to power the humidifer. When operating from battery, I just use the humidifier in passover mode. It gets me through.
If you need backup power for more than a couple days, you probably should be looking for a generator of some sort. One option here is to get a small one to be used to recharge batteries, only. The other option is to get a bigger one that will power the xpap (and other appliances) directly (these cost a lot more).
I'm workin' on it.
