Hi Gang
I'm a 62 year old using the Philips Respironics 'FitLife' Mask. It's a full face mask and the Only mask out of several I've tried that gives me relief.
Only problem, I've developed a permanent stye from the constant air flow. I do use humidification, and I do clean the mask every night. I also use artificial tears. I've been to the eye doctor, and he attributes this to the mask. He prescribed medication, but it doesn't help.
I've decided to put up with the stye in order to get relief. Other than it being unsightly, I'll put up with it. Just hoping it doesn't develope into anything else?
Thanx
Mike

Re: Philips Respironics 'FitLife' Mask
Welcome to the forum! I am a newbie too, but have read on this forum for a while. I do know that others have said air flowing into your eyes from your mask is a big no-no. Have you checked into a full face mask liner, like those from Remzzzs or Pad-a-Cheek? That might seal up any leaks that lead to the air blowing towards your eyes.

I also read about a few people using eye covers to protect their eyes from the air flow. I hope this helps!

Hi Kimberly
Thank you for the reply
I'm not sure you understand my question? Unless I'm missing something?
I actually do have the FULL mask face mask, and I've been using it with most success. To my understanding, since this is a FULL face mask, there is no way to avoid the airflow into my eyes. I'll just put up with the stye.

A full face mask still should not be blowing air into your eyes if fitted correctly and without leaks. You should have to put up with a constant stye.

Re: Philips Respironics 'FitLife' Mask
enigma welcome to the forum.
i see by the responses that the responders don't understand the style of mask you have. it is much like an open circuit diving mask.i covers your whole face, and i believe others are confusing this with a full face mask. i am curious is it comfortable? how does it work when you roll over?
i am curious as to why they attribute this to the mask. i have heard of this complaint of air flow inside the mask.. maybe do a search(under the cpaptalk.com banner -upper left corner)and see what you find. lots of people here "play"with thier masks (unauthorized modification) if you were to do this maybe a duct tape baffle?? (hint hint)
best of luck to ya fuzzzy

Re: Philips Respironics 'FitLife' Mask
Thanx for all your replies. Please take a look at the mask to understand my situation, (not that it solves anything).

Home made modifications? Sure I'm very handy, but even the health care provider, (sleep study folks), said with this type of mask, the air flow is right there - right in your face
I don't care about the stye as long as it doesn't develop into anything else? Can't give the mask up, it works fine for me.
I'm not sure if I roll over when I sleep? I'm a CONFIRMED bachelor Out of 4 different masks, it's the only one that works for me!
Thanx again

Re: Philips Respironics 'FitLife' Mask
I use the fitlife mask also and find it very comfortable. I have a very hard time with anything that touches my face and cannot tolerate the pressure on my nose so the fitlife is the answer for me also.
I don't move much in my sleep, but I usually turn over at least once and i have no problem with it.
I was a long time finding a mask that worked for me, I think I must have tried them all.
Thanks!

Re: Philips Respironics 'FitLife' Mask
Folks;
I just purchased the Philips Respironics Fitlife full face mask and am looking forward to using it. When I put it on, and started the CPAP machine all the air blows out around the seals. In the book it talks about not fitting the mask too tightly, and I am not, but there seems to be not way for the airflow to exit? Am I missing something? The mask seems pretty simple to use. How does the air leave the mask - other than around the seals?
Thanks!!
