Einstein Brothers Bagels corner of Peachtree Dunwoody and Hammond Dr just outside I-285. Whoever gets there first, grab the big table. Talk/rants, therapy updates, gadgets, associated health conditions, therapy challenges. All welcome to come and share.

Highlights of last month’s meeting:
  • Had another forum member join us
  • Demo of Brett's latest PapCap and determining size
  • PadACheeks “pillow holder”
  • ResMed data skew and why a firmware upgrade isn’t likely
  • Discussion of ResMed’s S9 FOT technology and the S9 heated hose
  • Discussion of ability to play ‘music’ as a guide to apnea recovery
  • Desire for and discussion of technique for creating customized masks
  • Equipment “open sourcing” so the tekkies amongst us could build their own CPAP devices
  • Availability of an EEG for home use so we really can more effectively monitor our therapy
  • Apnea caused by use of statin drugs
  • Recent discussion of apneas that are neither obstructive or central
  • Brain aging and functional deficits re Braverman’s “The Edge Effect” book & one person’s story. Collective decision made to take the written test and identify our primary neurotransmitter and deficiencies amongst the 4 main neurotransmitters (wow, my primary sure nailed me!) in the hopes that balancing these 4 accelerate brain function recovery from the ravages of apnea.
  • WIFI frequency and possible brain damage as well as ringing in ears in those fields
  • Cellular frequencies and the possible accumulative damage over time and the fascinating tidbit that older folks who use their cell phones (transmitters or BlueTooth at ear) show less percentage of ALZ, suggesting that these frequencies might somehow help the brain deal with what causes ALZ…more research is needed.
  • Crowd control via low frequency sound...re "Brave New World" & 'soma' pretty similar
  • ”Earthing” and the ‘barefooting’ movement
  • Global migration of insects via insects jumping and riding high-level airstreams as well as hitching rides on the skins of jets
  • Web hosting costs…long story as to how we got there
  • Depression, CPAP therapy, antidepressants, weight gain
  • Request for suggestions for therapy tweaks from one of us (thanks BeanMeScot, it worked!)
  • Psychopharmacological chemical hormonal balance
  • Pearled probiotics and gut bacteria
  • Mediation
  • History channel’s “Ancient Aliens”… we're an interesting group

SantaCPAP, where are you??

"Twas the night before Christmas
when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring
not even my spouse;

The CPAP hose was hung
by the bedpost with care,
In hopes that Santa CPAP soon would be there...."

And Ma in her kerchief
And I in my Papcap,
Had just settled down
To a long therapeutical nap -

When out on the lawn
There rose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the arousal.

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer...

With a little old driver so lively and fat,
I knew in a moment it must be Santa CPAP.

As I drew in my head and was turning around,
Down the chimney Santa CPAP came with a REM rebound.

He was dressed all in cotton and velcro from his head to his foot,
And his Pee Jays were all tarnished with ashes and soot.

A bundle of 'bricks' he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a Respiratory Tech. just opening his pack.

His eyes how they twinkled! His dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose scarred from CPAP Therapy!

He had a broad face and a big round belly
That shook when he laughed like a bowl full of jelly.
He was chubby and plump -a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to laying out masks, hoses and other stuff,
And filled all the prescriptions without a 'Starbucks'

And laying his finger aside of his netipot,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose from the spot...

He sprang to his sleigh, to his Medical Team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight,

"Merry Christmas to all and all a Good Sleep Tonight!!"
