Bob,
I also live quite close, (50 yds.), from the sea. I have baseboard, (hot water), heat. Do you have hot air?
Two other points, it takes 4-5 days to use up all the water in the humidifier with the climateline set on auto and I have never had a problem with rainout or with condensation blocking my view of the water level on the little yellow plastic with the water level lines on it that is inside my non-washable humidifier.

I mention all this because maybe your hum. or your hose isn't working properly.
