I think the S9 is a good buy but I would try to get the Autoset. I use the S9 autoset in cpap mode with no problems, I love my machine.

Its a struggle to make the choice. I know and have used the S8 Elite and I have loved that CPAP. But I'm also a data freak and would like the additional data from the S9 Elite. That $50 difference puts the extra data w/in "range" and tempting. I guess I'd go for the S9 ..... but that S8 was such a good, sturdy, durable CPAP ....

I have over come de lure of de machine.
I'm going to stick to my S8's.
They have been rock solid, easy to use, easy to travel with.

I came very close to pulling the trigger on
an S9 just before the poo-poo heads at Resmed
decided to show their true colors toward us.
I decided w/the problems the S9 has had, I did
not want to buy one through Craigslist w/no warranty.
Given the ergonomics of the design, they would
just be a royal PITA for me.
And I still don't see what data I'm missing that
would revolutionize my theapy results.
As far as the aesthetics go, I fear no cpap.

I called another place in town and I can get the S9 elite for only $260 out of pocket so thats better.
I was told I can only get an autoset if the doctor prescribes it.

Well, the first answer, the $260 is better - BUT - the second answer is one of those "sins of omission". The only reason you can't get an AutoSet w/o a new script from your doctor is because they don't want to provide the more expensive AutoSet at that CPAP price, NOT because that AutoSet isn't the exact same HCPCS code as the Escape and the Elite. Proceed carefully, take everything this provider tells you w/a large grain of salt.

Thanks everyone so far.
For me to get the S9 Autoset it is $396 out of pocket.
And for me to get it the doctor has to prescribe it
