A few seconds of leak while you are adjusting your mask won't skew your data.
When I say the pillows must be inflated before adjusting, you can still hold the pillows lightly up to your nose and then turn on the machine. Now adjust. No leak.

Re: Swift FX causing painful nostrils - any suggestions?
I use a dab of AYR nasal gel just INSIDE of each nostril. A very small amount can be used. It sooths without any odor. I use a tiny dab of Lanisoh Lanolin ointment on the OUTSIDE of each nostril to help the nasal pillows adhere immediately.
I wear the silicone strap up top more loosely than the material/velcro strap across the back of the head.
I agree with the other folks suggestions about you using a small size.
I put my mask on, press the button on the machine, feel the pillows immediately inflate and slightly pull, tap and adjust. It only takes about 10 seconds and then I'm all set.
I found this to be my most comfortable, unobtrusive mask. However, the few times I have had a sinus infection and could not breathe very well, I did go to my comfort gel nasal mask, as the inside of my nostrils were very inflamed. I also keep a full face mask on hand just in case I must mouth breathe if I am totally congested - but I haven't had to use it yet!
Hope this helps.
