Insist on a fully data capable auto, the geek in you will be very happy you did. DMEs play lots of games so check everything twice before signing. Welcome and good luck!
Any landing you walk away from is a good one; if you don't break your airplane it's excellent.

It might be a little late, but you might want to see if the DME can do your fitting and setup at their office. Mine said the RT would only have a few masks if she came out to my house; but at their place she had access to everything they carried.

Damn! Their office was too far away and I figured it would be easier for them to just come here.

DME just left the house and I am happy as a pig in sh*t!!

I have updated my equipment below. It seems that he brought just what I wanted. Seems like a real nice machine. The guy was real nice and personable and gave me an extra mask, 3 extra filters, and maybe another headgear.

He was a real "SALESMAN" though. LOL

All in all a great experience.

Now what's up with this "software" that i read about?

I have Cigna and I see where they possibly have a dedicated service provider (maybe Apria, or CRApria LOL).

I KNOW that I do not want to be stuck with subpar equipment because I fancy myself a geek who NEEDS to know all this data that I read on here.
Not to confuse the issue, but I really enjoy (and need) a machine with easy exhalation so I have the Respironics REMstar Auto M Series AFLEX. When you get the AFLEX it can be put in CFLEX mode so even if you don't know that AFLEX is for, it allows a choice.

However, HYAT doesn't list the AFLEX machine as one they carry.

Here's some AFLEX information: http://aflex.respironics.com/

Oh! And welcome : )

If you really have an M Series PLUS as listed in your profile, the software will not do you any good. It will only tell you how long and how often you used your machine.

For the software to give you detailed data (AI, H, AHI, leak rate, etc) you need an M Series PRO or an M Series AUTO.

I am wondering why he gave you an M Series anyway, since it is no longer made. It was replaced earlier this year with the PR Sytem One. With the PR System One you again need a PRO or an AUTO for the software to give you detailed data, not the PLUS.

If you click on the name of your machine in your profile, it will take you to cpap.com where you can read about the machine.

My Bad. I clicked Plus instead of Pro. It is, indeed, a pro series. I also texted my sister in law about software as she is a sleep technician.

Congrats D ! keep that enthusiasm , after all it's your health. by finding this forum you have already joined the fortunate few ! defiantly lobby for a machine that is data capable - comes with a card, card reader & software so you can track your stats to see if your therapy is working. this will give you leak data, etc. Good Luck Brother, hi five *

Just a heads up.
The info you are referring to is no longer in his sig. Was removed a little while ago.
I may be wrong, but i believe a PM to Uncle_Bob will see people right.

Also great to see other enthusiastic people keen to use cpap machines. They are life savers. (newbie myself).

Glad to hear that it is a PRO you have and not a PLUS!

So still no luck on the software. Been looking for a good torrent, but no one is seeding.

I just can't make myself spend that much on a software program. It just goes against all my INTERNET PIRATE instincts.

Is this acceptable talk here?

On a different note, after 3 days with the CPAP, I am feeling better, but my avg AHI is at 7.7. I think that is high, but I have really just started getting used to the nasal pillows.

I also tried the backup mask listed in my sig and was snoring and my mouth was as dry as it was before i started therapy. (even with Humidifier on). So I don't hink I will be using that mask except if I am severely congested.

I'm also wondering why you didn't get the newest model? We have the M Series Auto since 2008. Was your machine brand new in a sealed box with no usage ? Dealing with DMEs can be tricky. Good luck.

I'm not sure but I don't think Uncle _Bob had this software listed, I only seem to remember the other one.

Congrats D-Rob! Your new journey will improve the quality of your life tremendously. Aside from a few beginning issues (I.E. DME's, trying different masks, getting acclimated), your positive attitude will take you a long way. I've been on CPAP therapy almost a year and I can't believe the difference in my life since then. I am a full time student and work full time and I could never have pulled that off before therapy. My first quarter back to school proved it...I barely got through it. Hopefully you have not gained any other health issues from being untreated thus far and you can eliminate the chance of diabets, heart disease, hypertension, etc. Good luck and keep coming back to this forum. There is a ton of info and folks who are happy to help with their knowledge.
