48 - diagnosed at 48.

Like others, I probably should've had the study done 20 yrs ago. Even when not carrying an ounce of extra mass I used to wake up the neighbors in the other half of the duplex I lived in at the time and my ex used to lay awake sometimes to see if I would take that next breath.

I am 45 and was diagnosed at 43. I really started to notice symtoms at 41. However, I probably had OSA for over 20 years. When I was in high school everyone in my household could hear when I snored which was around 2 or 3 nights a week.

Clinically diagnosis at 44, currently 49, my wife had been elbowing my ribs for about 3-5 years, I kept getting sorrer and sorrer, I finally caved in. Glad I did, now we both sleep. Dad and 4 uncle's have it, none of my brothers admit it yet? hmmm. I remember thinking grandpa was dying when he slept, not sure why, he was a loud mouth breather and it was scary to a little kid, he probably had it. john

I had a first sleep test 5 years ago with a diagnostic of mild apnea and no cpap.
This year, at 63, I had a new sleep test and my apnea was moderate but cpap has been prescribed, it was 7 months ago.
And I am 64 now.

About 15 years ago I had a sleep study and was told I didn't have apnea (went because I've always been a lousy sleeper -waking up a lot and tossing and turning and acting out dreams). Seven years ago I accompanied my youth group on a mission trip where we all slept on classroom floors in a high school. The adults from the church we shared a room with suggested to the host organization that I be given a private room, preferably in another building. My youth would not let me chaperone the next year. I finally caved in and had another sleep study back in August (at age 51)after my daughter complained that I was keeping her awake while she was sleeping in a separate tent during our camping trip. Perhaps it's the hose, or hopefully it's the better oxygenation, but I'm not moving around anywhere near as much as I did before pap.

My dad was also a champion snorer - during the day when he watched tv, and at night when he was in bed. When he died at 56, I no longer had the father I counted upon and the house was really quiet. I was very sad and the quietness always reminded me of him. I had become accustomed to the sound. I knew it would never be the same again. When my wife started to complain about my snoring, I was a young man. That was about 25 years ago. I thought why should I care? I'm alseep (I thought) and can't control it. When my kids grew, they told me the same stuff but now they all added "and you stop breathing" to their rants. It was good enough for my dad and I thought I understood, why wasn't it good enough for them. I was almost offended. Jeesh. What a bonehead I was, and probably still am. I was diagnosed at 61 and I am 61. How I stayed married and alive for this long is a mystery to me.

Just dx at 56, though I suspect now I've had it for much longer. Even in my healthy days (before a shingles virus blew out my system), though active, I seemed to be tired and yawning much of the time.

I was Dxed at 38, I am 39 now. I went in because of high blood pressure when I found out but I knew I had it for at least ten years but didn't think it was a big deal. Oh and my wife kept nagging me to get it checked out, wish I would of listened to her sooner.
