Morning headaches. Why?
Morning headaches. Why?
Good morning all. I haven't posted for a while.
I've been having mornings headaches for a while (month or two). The kind of headaches as if you've overslepted. Why? Seems like this shouldn't be happening.
Thank you for your thoughts.

You're right, that shouldn't be happening. It might mean you need to be re-titrated. What does your data show?

Bodies change. Needs change. It sounds like large leak to me. You're probably sleeping a lot more relaxed, including your mouth. Hence, you are likely mouth leaking. That means your sleep therapy is currently not fully effective. You could try taping or various other remedies for nose-hosers, or you could go for the relaxing comfort of a full face mask. The most popular two are the Ultra Mirage Full Face (UMFF) and the Quattro. If you have a rounder, flatter face, you probably want a Quattro. If you have a more average to narrow face, a UMFF might be the way to go. There are staunch supporters for the Hybrid and the ZZZ full-face as well.Starlette wrote:Good morning all. Either way, check your Encore graphs for large leak anomalies. If your leak lines are okay, check for high-duration apneas. Even one or two thirty-second-plus apneas in a night can cause severe headaches at waking in some people.

Re: Morning headaches. Why?
My first step would probably be to use an overnight recording oximeter for a night.
But morning headaches for more than a week, when they weren't there before, would be something I'd want my primary doc to know about.

Data - I'll post to forum when I go home this evening. I've been journaling my data since I got my new cpap back in March 2010. How do I copy/paste an excel spreadsheet to the forum?
@jnk - overnight recording oximeter - How do I get ahold of one?

Re: Morning headaches. Why?
Some DMEs will let you use one for a night, if your sleep doc asks nicely. But as stated, many of us have bought our own.Slartybartfast wrote:Guest wrote:Data - I'll post to forum when I go home this evening. Re: Morning headaches. Why?
As I've requested before, how do I link or copy/paste an xcel spreadsheet to this thread?
Re: Morning headaches. Why?
i couldn't transfer my xcel spreadsheet to forum i don't know how.
as for the oximeter. i'm now in the process of ordering. Sounds like those who have replied are thinking the same thoughts as me - not enough oxygen. I think it be best for me to order oximeter first and use it then go to my Primary Care Physician with both sets of data (excel spreadsheet and oximeter data). Then she'll have raw data to better diagnose my situation.

I think you have to turn it into a jpg and upload it to someplace like flickr and then link to it.

The excel data will only give us averages and may not be precise enough for what we'd like to see.
Your machine is data-capable. Have you got the software (Encore Pro or Encore Reader) to upload the data from your SD card to your computer? Spreadsheets don't translate well as text in the BBEdit format we use on the forum. You could create a pdf or an image, host one of these on on something like photobucket.com and link to the image/document here. There are a number of posts on cpaptalk.com that explain how to post images to the forum.

Yes, I do have the software. My husband who is a programmer has had difficulty with it.

Re: Morning headaches. Why?
I totally understand. I'm assuming it's installed and that the trouble lies in getting the machine to recognize the SD card, is that correct? I had trouble getting it to work at first too. There are plenty of people here willing to help figure it out, though if you want to give it a go. It might help to see when during the night your large leaks are occurring, or if they are occurring at all.Starlette wrote:Yes, I do have the software. Good for you about getting an oximeter. They can be very useful too, especially in conjunction with nightly graph data.

Starlette - Is your software Encore Pro 2 or Encore Viewer 2?
Also which operating system are you running on your computer?
My OP is Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit.
Installing and running Encore Viewer 2 was no problem on my computer. I understand there are problems installing Encore Viewer 2 on computers running the 64 bit version of Windows 7.
I tried installing Encore Pro 2 on my computer and it would not install the SQL data base that version of the software needs. Encore Pro 2 is designed for use by sleep techs, etc. Encore Viewer 2 gives the same info as Encore Pro 2 except that Encore Pro 2 gives the waveforms as well.
To upload data sheets, etc, to this forum, I change what I want to post to jpeg format and then upload it to Photobucket (you have to register but it is free). From there you can link to this fourm and post your information. It is a bit tricky and I can't explain the process to well but maybe your husband might be able to do it.

Re: Morning headaches. Why?
Are we diagnosing headaches now?
I have a sharp pain in my abdomen and it hurts when I stand up. Loss of appetite, shortness of breath. What should do I?
