Still need Individuals over the age of 64 years

Post by ConneeRNResearcher » Sat Nov 06, 2010 8:36 am

Good Morning Everyone,

To start off, thank you to everyone who has responded to my questionnaire. I am very grateful. I believe I have answered / responded to all of those who had questions such as IRB approval, doing previous research on this site before, etc. If I missed anyones question please excuse me. Many I answered in a private message.

To explain to everyone, the reason I chose this site (venue) is because I wish to do research specifically on the sleep apnea population when I finish my doctorate in nursing. I am a nurse anesthetist and very few of us have a research degree (PhD). Actually less that 0.2%. I am facinated about sleep apnea especially the adherence piece. The most important person in my life (my wonderful husband) has severe central and obstructive sleep apnea along with circadian rhythm sleep disorder. Thus my interest in sleep apnea. I just finished a post-masters certificate in sleep from University of Penn (a sleep apnea research mega center). My future research trajectory will include how to best care for individuals who have sleep apnea when they are undergoing a procedure that requires anesthesia either general or sedation. Especially the individuals who are not yet diagnosed!

I have been a RN for over 30 years initially graduating from a community college with an ADN. I have been practicing nurse anesthesia for nearly 15 years.

With all of this being said (and perhaps far more than you wanted to know) I still need individuals who are over the age of 64 years. I would like to represent this population. I am able to abtain this population locally, but I specifically wanted to find the OSA population to further enhance my understanding.

So again, thank you for sharing. The post will only remain open until this Monday.

Regards,
Connee, CRNA MSN RN

I did. This over-64'er answered Connee's questionnaire via email. Hope others will participate and help her out, too.

I don't do surveys; except when I'm feeling especially mischievous--then I lie on every answer.
