Took your advice and went in with my assertive attitude - didn't really need it though - the respiratory guy immediately went for the Hydbrid as soon as I told him what I was having issues with.

Don't ya just wanna smack these people, sometimes???

Thanks for the fighting words, BlackSpinner LOL

Hugs,

Great to hear Xena.

You are not alone in being uninformed. So far I have had 0 help from anyone than the people on this site.

Hope you have a great night of sleep! Based on how my nose is right now I will be using the Liberty (just like your Hybrid) tonight.

Thanks Danimal, looking forward to it myself!
Not that it's any comfort, but I got 0 help with my diabetes Dx 2years ago - only from the forums. Mind you, my Drs didn't want me getting too 'into' testing and taking charge of my diabetes - until they saw my improvement.
I can't tell you how disillusioned I am that we must keep our sneaking peeks at our CPAP stats from our doctors - it's just ABSURD!! I AM going to discuss this with my endo and PCP who so far have supported my input 99% - I want to 'come out' and discuss my stats openly with them. Not sure about the neurologist - only seen her once after my sleep study and she seems to like me being uninformed LOL.

Cheers,
Xena

Good job, Xena! He must have seen your "warrior" face and knew enough not to mess with you!

I haven't heard from 1 Dr since I received my weapon of mass destruction....I mean CPAP machine. Granted I haven't called them either but it's been over a month shouldn't they be checking up on me or had me make a follow up appointment for less than 3 months?

People shunning you from monitoring you diabetes...wow. That's all I have to say about that.

I am tired and crabby right now....think I'll stop typing for the day.

You'd think so, Danimal.

The neurologist (can't call her MY neurologist - not sure how I feel about her yet LOL) wanted me to make a follow-up appointment for a month out.

My question is - what is she going to know? I'm not supposed to be looking at my stats, so I can't tell her anything. She won't have the SD card from my machine as that goes to the DME provider, as will the transponder doovalacky with the blue flasher (which hubby says has a cam on it to perv on us as we sleep LOL). Is she just going to ask me how I'm feeling and gauge the success of my therapy on my say so?

I feel so helpless right now and so not in control.

I'm crabby too, Danimal and need a good night's sleep - I keep eyeing my new Hybrid mask in my bag near my desk and wanna run home and try it out

Cheers,
Xena

Well I think it's good that it's only a month. At least you're not hanging out there having issues for a longer period of time. I would be honest and say that you have been viewing your stats. In my opinion that shows that you're being an active participant and trying to do for yourself.

I understand about the hopelessness.

My wife will be gone tonight and it will just be me and my 2 boys (2 & 5 ) and part of me wants to put them to bed early so I can get to bed....I feel bad for feeling that way because I love my boys and want to spend as much time with them as I can.

Hmmm, ok - I'll consider mentioning to the neuro that I'm peeking at the stats. What's she gonna do to me, anyway?

Hope you had a wonderful sleep last night.

Cheers,
Xena

How did your mask workout?

My nose cleared up somewhat so I used the Swift LT nasal pillows I have. I seemed to sleep well. I remember dreaming a little and remember hearing a song repeating over and over in my head. I feel better this morning than yesterday.

What's the worst the Dr is going to say to you? "No don't look at your numbers...you don't need to worry about that." If a Dr told me that I don't know how much I would value their opinion or judgement then. All you are doing is looking at data and trying to understand what is going on with your treatment and your body. The Dr works for you. You are not commited or enslaved to them. If you aren't making changes to your therapy then you have nothing to worry about. If you are then see what they would think about altering the treatment. If they do and they move you in the same direction then you have validation is your changes. That's just my opinion...which doesn't mean squat. It's all relative.

Hope you have a great day.

Danimal, my new mask was fabulous, thanks for asking!
It will take a little adjusting as the venting is more to the sides than the other mask, but it was soooo comfortable and no 'head in the vice' feeling. I actually don't remember waking up but a couple of times when the vent was whistling against my pillow. I'll ask hubby when he wakes up - he works 2nd shift - and gives me a full report on how I was sleeping when he goes to bed around 2:30am.
Yes, I learned how true it is that our medical team works for US, with my diabetes Dx 2yrs ago. It didn't take me long to being an 'equal' with them in my treatment instead of an obedient puppy I just have to spend more time reading here and learning what the heck those stats on my machine actually mean - some of the terms are gobbledygook right now.

Cheers,
Xena

Good news Xena. Maybe a cpap bed pillow might help with the whistling noise which might be blocking of the vent, don't want that! If the pillow is too soft it may be pushing the sides up.

You might also try on the "Liberty" while you are at it. Similar in design to the Hybrid, but fit is different. The Lib didn't work for me and the Hybrid does, but YFMV (your face may vary).
