Adam,
I switched to APAP a couple of weeks ago. I had to have a prescription for the DME and for insurance.
I called the doctor's office and asked the receptionist to FAX me a prescription for an AutoPAP. She talked to the doctor, he filled out the prescription, and she FAXed it back to me.
I sent it as a FAX to the DME and to my insurer.
My DME requires a prescription if I want to switch masks. That will be a cold day.
