I'm sorry to hear that, but I guess it won't get any worse and you'll be fine again soon, please do not try to think negative.

If you really feel the beginning of an infection in your body; starting prescribed antibiotics at once, loading Vitamin-C and using throat disinfectants like Klorhex helps a lot. And as you already know, you have to get in touch with a doctor at once.

My prayers are with you, please keep us updated.

Hi

I'm very sorry to hear your not feeling well Madalot.

When I get sick I really get sick the only thing I have found to help and reduce the time is found here http://www.oscillo.com/

I don't know how or why but this product works wonders for me more so when I take it early when the sickness comes on we keep two boxes on hand at all times

I really hope you feel better soon

Gary

SleepingUgly wrote:Yes, ask about Tamiflu, but also ask if you can use Zicam. I don't know how much it helps, but we've been using it and it seems to have made the colds much more mild (course I have no control group). It is over-the-counter. My daughter and I are using this one right now:

http://www.zicam.com/products/coldremedy_zavors

which has 2 (mgs?) of each of the two active ingredients (some of the other ones have 1mg or 2 and 1). You have to take it as soon as possible after the onset of the symptoms.
I have friends who swear by Zicam for plain old colds. They can be coughing and sneezing one day, really feeling sick and symptoms are almost gone within a day or two. It never worked for me with the complications that come with being asthmatic.

My Pulmonologist called me around 5:30 last night. She isn't very concerned and said there's not much we can do at this point but ride it out. She said to treat the symptoms (which I do anyway) and told me what to watch for as sign it's turned bacterial (which I already know).

She did say that in her opinion, being on the ventilator might make it BETTER faster.

I guess we'll just have to see.

Thank you, to everyone, for their help and input.

Apparently your fever has not risen sharply by now, so I would think you do not have the flu.

Good luck with a speedy recovery.

Thanks. I've been running a constant fever from around 99.8 to 101 since Sunday morning. I've been taking Advil regularly, which has kept it down I'm guessing.

In truth, this is EXACTLY how things went in the spring of 2008 before one of these things turned to pneumonia. But all I can do at this point is wait and see and hope for the best. I'm crossing my fingers that the ventilator will make a positive difference and that it doesn't get too bad.

When mine turned too bronchitis/pneumonia I found it was much less of an issue then before the cpap. Think that the ventilator is allowing you to fight this better then before by having O2 and actually breathing and sleeping. Hopefully you will be able to add humidity to the room/machine to make sure the mucous doesn't dry out so you will be more comfortable.
