Sound Familiar?

Apap machines are wildly inaccurate in their determination of obstructive or central events. They should only be used for novelty purposes sadly. I think that we are still a good ten or fifteen years away from having devices which are capable of recognizing actual events. Until then it is all guess work.

I actually would be interested in seeing some references either for or against this statement. After looking at a detailed report from my S9, I could believe that the data are not necessarily that accurate. The differences between events that were scored as central vs. obstructive apneas seem relatively subtle to me. Without seeing more data (for instance respiratory effort), it seems hard to distinguish between the two.

Are there any studies on how well Resmed's pulsing flow actually is able to distinguish central from obstructive apneas?

That kind of wildly radical post from SleepTechulous makes me wonder if a certain poster, recently banned, is back in business here under a new name!

I would like to see those studies as well. One that was not conducted by Resmed or any Resmed partners.

Of course.

He didn't have a choice. His overwhelming need for acceptance made that a lock.

BTW, his constant reminders that he's a sleep tech tells me he's not a sleep tech. His phraseology seems to come more out of Google than practical experience.

However, I would offer that before another post is made, people make a Priority List of things they need to do today, then act accordingly.

For instance:
  • Short run to prep for race.
  • Poke fun at Gumbo.
  • Rake leaves.
  • Check for frost damage and toss annuals.
  • See that frost missed and leave annuals for another week.
  • Clean garage.
  • R&R and put away fishing gear.
  • Change oil in "The Bomb".
  • Go to child's sporting event.
  • Get ready for "The Big Game".
  • Boff the old lady.
  • Allow self to get aggravated because another person has debilitating insecurities.
If the only thing on your list is
  • Allow self to get aggravated because another person has debilitating insecurities.
then I would suggest that you come over here and help rake.

I can't help you rake, but I do think I've got much more important things to do.

If this is true, and it probably is, I think I'll sit this one out if ya'll don't mind. I'm a bit tired this week and I need to take my kids clothes shopping.
