I do not understand the findings when you have to have a new sleep study re-done. After you have accepted CPAP you can't sleep without it, that's just the way it is for me. I can't even doze off without it because I will hold my breath and I jerk awake immediately. So it only seems realistic that if you don't sleep, then they cant measure. Right? My last study, required by the insurance for a new machine, says that I was in 1st stage sleep for 98% of the 2 hours that I managed to sleep out of 8. So I only had 7.2 events TOTAL during that time. Mild to moderate. Amazing. 2nd stage for 1%. I have no clue where the other 1% went. Of course, no events in stage 3 or 4 because I never got there. I do not have a hardcopy yet of the report so I don't know any of the other stuff. When I first went in 4 years ago, I had no idea that I was having 79.9 events per hour. I didn't know that I was waking up all of the time because of lack of oxygen. Now I am fully aware when I don't have CPAP on. Before I got the house generator system, if the power was out for 2 days during winter storms, then I was awake because I can not sleep without it. My doctor is still positive that I will get the new machine, she says that I still have severe apnea that has to be treated with a machine and that I would desat to 74%. I will have to go back in now to go through the whole mask at night sleep. At this point I just dont care anymore. I will buy the dang machine myself AND change insurance companies. I pay 800.00 a month for it and I have to fight them constantly over my COPD and asthma meds.

Mimmie, make them give you sleep medication. I'm glad I ask for it because I knew I would never go to sleep with all of those wires glued to my head.
Re: No brainer
Yep, they called in a script for me this evening. They thought it was really funny when I said that I only needed 2. I don't have to have anything to sleep now, only my machine and I am good to go. You are very right about all the wires stuck all over you. Not comfortable at all. At least they don't use that really sicky stuff anymore. Collodion or something like that. It was awful to remove!
