cpap and batteries

Hi, has anyone ever used a waeco portable fridge battery 36amp hours to power their cpap whilst campinf

If so could you use solar panels to recharge ?

my cpap uses 3.75 amps per hour so does this mean the battery woul d last for 48 hours ie 36 divided by 3.75

now i know i am a dummy, but i do need some help

That fridge battery should work if you already have but you might want to just get a marine battery for $50. These are made for long drain and have a 72 month (pro-rated) warranty. Ive had good luck running a CPAP (he Devilbiss Intellipap switches over automatically) in a power outage. If the solar panels dont work you can get one of these portable 2-cycle generators for around $75. So for $125 you can get a heavy duty rechargeable power source and start each knight with a full charge. Even if the sun doesnt come out and you cant get a solar charge you are covered.

jollyjoe1234, you wonder if the 36amp hour batteries would work for 48 hours. It depends on the batteries. If they are deep cycle batteries, they should last for 24 hours before they need to be recharged. You should not drain a battery more than 1/2 way before you recharge it. So, the equation would be.

hours = (amp-hours /amps per hour) / 2

By the way, if you do that math, it comes out as:

hours = (amp-hours /amps per hour) / 2
hours = (36 / 3.75) / 2
hours = 9.6 / 2

Does your unit really draw 3.75 amps per hour. Seems high.
