Intellipap autoon aotuoff feature question

Post by Junebug999 » Fri Oct 15, 2010 11:27 pm

WHAT THE HELL is that and what does it do and what is it for and how should I have mine set?

HAHA -- you see i've been here about a month and STILL learning new stuff.

Now I put my mask on and then connect my hose and when I do that the air comes on. I like that. I think maybe this has something to do with autoon/autooff?

When i pull off mask, the air keeps going through the hose....I'd like for the air to go off then, so how should I set it to do that?

I hate all that air blasting away from the hose when maybe I just need to get up for a minute for a bathroom break and that air blasting away is so loud1

Also, what would happen if I turned machine off intead and then back on when I get bck into bed?

You're right - the auto-on is what makes it start up by itself when it senses you breathing, and the auto-off (mine doesn't work either!) is just the opposite, so I hit the button instead... big deal. As far as breaks go, you're better off leaving it on because once turned off, it won't record overnight stats properly and right now you are obviously concerned about that.

mine also does not shut off by itself. It does turn on automatically. Also I have turned it off to get up and go to the bathroom. It did NOT change the results... It still said 7.6 breathing hrs

My machine has auto on (I sure like that). I have not set the auto off feature because of issues that can arise with that enabled.

When I get up for a bathroom break, I turn off the machine by hand and disconnect the hose from the mask (I use "quick connects"), make my little trip, come back to bed and reattach the hose to mask. The machine of course comes on automatically.

On my data, nothing is affected. All that appears is a small break in the line on each section of the report (pressure, leak line) at the time I was up. The data is not affected in any way.

You can see (my profile) that I do not use an Intellipap but I expect it is the same with all of the machines.

I just switch the machine off for bathroom breaks. If you don't then you'll gets some massive leaks recorded. Some people have experienced the machine switching off with a big enough leak and consequently have turned off that feature.

@ Julie... I have to disagree about not turning it off for bathroom breaks. I have not awakened a lot of times for bathroom breaks, but I have about 4 or 5 times since I started using my machine. The Intellipap seems to just show it as a minor break in the data graph. My results do not seem to be any different on nights during which I take a break than those in which I do not. I have my auto ON enabled, but the auto OFF is not....hitting the OFF button is simple enough to do.

Thanks great info -- and that is why when I was NOT turning off machine I showed I had HUGE leaks in the morning -- that was when I was on quattro, and that mask doesn't leak on me -- it's like it was made for my little irish face (IF I remember to wash face before bed -- didn't a couple nights ago and it was leak city -- I couldn't even BUY a seal -- finally woke up enough to remember I hadn't washed face...DUH!)
