M-Series Noise Level

Since I no longer use humidification (not even passover), I decided to remove the humidifier altogether from my M-series APAP to save weight/room on a recent vacation. I snapped the hose adapter onto the back of the blower and packed it up.

The first time I fired it up the noise level was MANY times louder than it is with the humidifier in place!! And the blower noise was transmitted thru the hose where it seemed to be coming straight out of my mask! I hardly slept at all the first night. Second was better but still too noisy to sleep well. By the end of the week, I still wasn't used to the noise level (and doubt I ever would be!)

When I got home I snapped the parts back together. I could barely hear the machine and slept like a baby. I learned my lesson...

Anyone else noticed the terrific noise level of the blower by itself? And what a great "muffler" the humidifier is?

We've never taken the humidifier off since we do use it in passover mode but I think it was Goofproof who once said he only keeps the humidifier in place just to use as a noise buffer so he may have had the same experience as you.
