can't use Swift FX with my machine????

Post by fireman38355 » Tue Oct 12, 2010 9:04 pm

Ok,

Just curious, Reading the book that came with my Swift FX mask that I just got from CPAP.com, and it says the maske is "NOT COMPATIBLE FOR USE WITH AUTOSET CS 2 AND VPAP ADAPT SV DEVICES"

I have the Respironics ASV, which I assume works just like the resmed machine...... What is it about this mask that would make it incompatible with the ASV machines? I have hooked it up and it seems fine, I am just curious why they would say that it wouldn't work......

Any ideas?

Jeff

Curious...I have been using the Resmet FX for quite a while with an old Respironics APAP.

I would have to assume its either the connector on the hose is different size (since I don't have such a machine I can't say) or most likely that the pressures are just too high for an optimal fit.

They say the swift fx can handle up to 20cm of pressure.

Relax, Jeff. It's the wrong assumption.
The machines work differently, and the Respironics is far more tolerant of different types of masks than the ResMed.
The way these machines go about reading you breathing pattern, analysing it, deciding how to respond and responding is very different, and that's why one (ResMed) is affected by the type of mask and the other (Respironics) is not.

an ASV is different from a normal CPAP/APAP/BiPAP

and a Resmed ASV has a learning circuit that's a little different again. The Resmed ASV limits what masks can be used.

Yes, the FX is very comfy!!!

I used it last night and had no trouble at all..... it was just one of those things that struck me as odd........ I mean, it's just a mask, right?? LOL

I am doing well with my treatment, except for one strange night when I apparently got up, took my equipment apart, took it to the kitchen sink, cleaned it, and laid it out to dry before going back to bed. I never knew a thing. Found my stuff in the kitchen when I woke up the next morning....

I am feeling better, though i still have a ways to go. I hope you are all doing well, too!

OMG... you took it apart and cleaned it and didnt remember?
Well, at least you are neat when you are sleeping, and you must love your stuff! good for you!
Im so glad you are feeling better, I have had a rough go of it, but now think I have things sort of figured out..
I lowered my pressure, and wear the apap half the night and do "recovery" sleep without it on my tummy the rest of the night,
and when I do that I feel like a million bucks!

stay well!

The Machine you have is a bit more complex than a standard cpap or apap. Nasal or full face are mostly used due to the pressure settings on the asv machine. You may not recieve full theraputic benefits with nasal pillows. Have you tried the Activa or Micro from Resmed?

I went through several masks before settling on the nasal pillows. In general, the nasal and full face masks are just not comfortable for me to sleep in. I could work with the nasal pillows, but it took a few tries before I found the perfect one. The last couple of nights have been WONDERFUL! I can roll around all night and don't lose my seal with the FX, even sleeping on my stomach!! I am in LOVE! lol
