What kind of a mask are you using? If you are using a mask that doesn't cover your mouth, you may be losing pressure through your mouth, which would prevent you from getting good therapy and would leave your mouth dry.

If so, search on the forum for "taping" to see suggestions for taping your mouth shut.

Why humidifier setting of 5? seems very high to me.

Is 5 the maximum? many people only need a setting of 1 or 2 out of 5.

If you run out of water that would explain why you are dry and possibly still feeling a bit tired. Play around with various settings (try the new setting for a couple of nights before changing to the next, your body needs a chance to adjust). There is also something called passover mode which is humidifier turned off but still contains water.

Humidifier settings will usually need to be adjusted as the seasons change due to several factors including temperature, natural humidity and allergy season.

dually1 also asked:
TIRED ANY ONE ELSE?
There are a number of us posters who are "still tired", "more tired", or "tired for the first time" since starting CPAP. You can do a search on "tired" or "still tired" or "more tired" to find many posts about this.

Theories abound on why we're still tired, more tired, or tired for the first time. Seems to be a pretty individual thing. Many people say that it does get better in several weeks or months. But since dually1 has been on CPAP for 4 months, maybe it's time to consult the doctor?

dually1, do you know what kind of CPAP machine you have? Does it gather any efficacy data or just compliance data? A look at the efficacy data may give you and your doctor some insight into why you are still tired during the daytime.
